Once you make your iPhone discoverable, then put the Plantronics Backbeat 903 into pairing mode. With the headphones powered off, press and hold the Power / Pairing button until the LED Indicator flashes blue and red. Here is the link below for the Backbeat 903 user guide that has the pairing instructions as well.

Did you try connecting SD card directly into the MacBook Pro? Or are you utilizing the USB port of said computer? The OS X program "iPhoto" should automatically detect a camera plugged into the USB port, and should prompt you to download the photos.

Wont recognize my SanDisk Ultra 2 memory card, wont show up on desktop of my MacBook Pro.

Is there a memory card in the multi-reader? I don't believe that OSX will place an icon on the desktop before a card is inserted in the device. Just checking the basics first. Let me know.

I just purchased Plantronics BackBeat 906 and am receiving sound only from one earpiece. Is there a setting that I am not aware of that could be causing this problem?

I would try the reset option listed in Plantronics user guide. Here are the steps for the reset and I will include the link to the user guide also.
Instructions to Perform a system reset:

While plugging in the AC charger, hold the power/pair button. The headphones will show a solid red or blue light when they have been successfully reset.

your audio are not in interface with your macbook it means to say, the common wire are not in the same connection. that why you only hear sound on your left headphone. in short your firewire audio is not compatible with your macbook. but you can rewire it with same audio plug. or replace the audio plug with the compatible one. when you do this, make sure that the common wire of your firewire audio and your macbook are in the same connection.
