I went to turn on my tv and it tried to start up but then switched its self off and the on/off light went from blue to flashing red

It sounds like to me that either a capacitor blew up or the powersupply failed. Let me know the serial # and the other model # located on the back and i can assist you more. Possibly a driver IC on the ribbon cable going to the panel might have popped, which is about the size of a postage stamp and can be repaired fortunately, but it isn't cheap. If you do it wrong, the panel is ruined for good. If you do it correctly your set is fixed. Fortunately for you i know the boys over in O.T.S in Chicago which can assist me in helping you. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I CALLED PIONEER AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A POWER SUPPLY, PIONEER IS FIXING SOME MODELS WITH THE DEFECTIVE POWER SUPPLIES FOR FREE LOOK ON THEIR WEBSITE

This a factory issue and usually requires service. Most cases it is a bad power supply caused by a surge or powering off and on too fast ... sorry I wish I had better news

Since your plasma is less then a year old, I would suggest to contact the manufacturers to get it fix under warranty. If the plasma keeps shutting off by itself, that is not normal and should be repair.

check PDP 436XPE UNIT may be Y board short...or need factory restore to the original state....
