I see. You downgraded from Vista. That's going to be a problem. But, it doesn't mean the end of the world just yet.

Have you used software to audit your laptop? or ever used audit software before?

That software may reveal more exact detail. The report that's generated may be too large for a post back here. But, let me look for a day or so if you don't mind.

All of us here run our own businesses in most cases and at any given time we are either very busy or just busy. Right now I'm on two hard deadlines. But, I can take some time later in the night like now, to do some sleuthing for you.

Let me know if this loose timetable is OK for you or not and I'll give it a go.

Have you downloaded and tried to install the Nvidia package with all the drivers? And, if you have, did that auto installer fail to install the Geforce 7000 M and the HD Audio?

    Regards,
    Worldvet

Please reiterate your laptop model number from HP. I can see you have a Compaq F700, but when you choose what category to put your question in you chose something different so please confirm. That will help point you go the right downloads

I see some conflicts with what you stated you have.

Is this the Nforce 610M chipset on your laptop? And I have never heard of a Conextant HDef Audio.

On the bottom of your laptop should be a S/N that I can use to lookup your configuration as designed.

    Thanks,

Hi,

Here is the link to the download package for you system for XP from Nvidia directly.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.24.html

Download the package and then move it to a storage location on your hard drive. Once there double click it and it will unpack there or ask you where to unpack it. Use this routine to do the unpack, don't use WinRar, etc.

Once unpacked it usually starts installing on its own, otherwise click on the Setup file. Let it run its course and restart when asked.

IMPORTANT. You should create a restore point first or back your system up, maybe both. Its up to you but be cautioned that installing this package may cause a problem. If it does, enter Windows in safe mode by pressing F8 like a piano key during bootup and then select Safe Mode and the revert back using your restore point.

I suspect everything will go fine and you will get your sound driver.

Regards,
Worldvet

Audio driver for compaq presario c700 PC Note book

I have successfully installed all the XP drivers on the Compaq Presario c700 and successfully removed the bloated pig P.O.S. known as Vista.

You must download the following from Compaq's site:

Driver numbers:

sp34510 - Wireless assistant
sp33411 - Nvidia Chipset
sp33258 - Quick launch
sp35444 - Touchpad
sp36684 - Wireless LAN
sp35682 - Win Audio Bus + updates
sp33549 - Nvidia Video (Go 6150)
sp35270 - Conexant HD Audio
sp34427 - Conexant Modem

These are found all over the HP/Compaq web sites. You'll need to search for the number "sp35410", etc. Some of these are available under the driver pages for the F557US. You'll need to look under both the XP AND Vista sections!!!!

Now, the tricky part!! Listen CAREFULLY!!!! You must:

1. Install all of these drivers one by one, making sure NOT to run the sp33549 (Nvidia VIDEO), sp35270 - Conexant HD Audio, and sp34427 - Conexant Modem drivers!!!! Important! Then, reboot.

2. Run the sp33549 Nvidia Video driver file. It will FAIL! Once it has run, it will create a folder with this path: C:/swsetup/sp33549. Open the control panel, then system, then hardware, then open the device manager. Find the video controller with the yellow exclamation point. Right click, and select properties. Click the 'driver' tab at the top, and then select "update driver". Select 'not this time', then 'Install from a specific location', then select 'don't search', and then finally, select 'have disk'. Select the folder above, and that will manually install the video driver.

3. Do the exact same procedure for the sp35270 Conexant audio card, which will be in the device manager under 'PCI device'. Of course, make sure to use the C:/swsetup/35270 folder this time.

4. You can just double click the modem driver sp34427 to install it, but this must be done AFTER you manually install the Conexant audio!!!!

5. Since it took me three hours to figure all this out, you then send me an e-mail to thank me!

Vista sucks. Be happy you now have XP on this new laptop!!!!!!!
