Question about Televison & Video
Has horizontal line no picture but has sound
The vertical scan output section circuit is faulty. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. You can also click the [Home] tab to the latest updates. It will make search easy. There are more than 1350 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

SOURCE: Tv not working
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!

It's ring cracks on the solder joints of the vertical IC... IC421 i mounted to a small heat sink on the board. With the unit off and unplugged remove the board and locate IC421 (LA7832) and closely examine the pins connecting this component to the foil side of the board. You'll notice small rings around the footings that are actually open cracks in the solder, caused by heating and cooling over a period of years. Simply and carefully reflow some solder over these cracked joints, careful not to get the ic too hot in the process, and put it back together.. That should sole the problem...
Another problem we encounter a lot in the vertical deflection circuit of this unit are the two feeder caps C424 (100UF/35V) and C425 (470uf/35v).. If you're already there you might want to go ahead and replace these as well - save taking the back off again if they go bad..

Check for leaky capacitors in the vertical section of the TV or cold solder joints.
I would also check in the power supply.

Those are called retrace lines. The electron beam has to go back
to the beginning of the screen as part of its raster scan.
Normally it is turned down so that it can't be seen. There is a
little adjustment knob on the high-voltage flyback transformer called
"screen" that will hopefully adjust this for you. If that doesn't
work it is an indication that the high voltage circuit is dying.
Hop Ya Fix It.
