I come across a Model dv1200-1 1/2 impact wrench. What is the foot pounds and is this a single or double hammer unit.

100 psi is capable of running the gun
what the problem is the volume of air supplied to the gun
check the specification requiring the air usage for the gun against the volume supplied by the compressor
if you gun requires 20 c/ft of air /min and the compressor is only capable of 15c/ft of air /min, then the volume is too low so the pressure will not build up
modern impact 1/2 guns will operate quite well on 80 psi unless the gun is leaking internally
another point is this-- impact guns come in two configurations-- single hammer and double hammer
double hammer give 2 hits for each revolution of the air motor and there fore use less air to do the job
add the fact with 2 hammers , the torque applied is generally higher than single hammer units
the reality is this , the compressor capacity in c/ft/min should be 2 times that required or used by the tool

Question there are four settings on the air impact wrench 119106 I need to set to specific foot pounds are each of the four setting equal to a specific foot pound per inch (ie: setting one is 50 pounds...


if you dont use hand tools often you should never trust the torque from impact wrench you should always recheck with tension wrench for correct torque specs
or at least hand tools such as breaker bar, spanner, ratchet
depending on what your doing up and diameter of bolt or studd for what application

To install a clutch is not what I call an easy job but not an extremely difficult job either. You are going to need some special tools however.

The tools you'll need are an impact wrench, a large socket to fit the compensator nut and one to fit the mainshaft nut, a primary locking bar, torque wrenches that will torque to 150 foot pounds and 70 foot pounds in the left handed direction, and a special tool required to disassemble the clutch assembly.

First, disconnect the battery, then drain the primary and remove the outer primary cover. Use the impact wrench and appropiate socket to remove the compensator sprocket nut from the engine shaft. Remove the snap ring holding the release plate in the center of the clutch assembly and remove the LEFT HANDED THREADED mainshaft nut. Take the nut off the chain tensioner and remove the primary drive (engine sprocket, adjuster, and clutch assembly) as a unit.

Now, using the special tool, compress the clutch spring and remove the lock ring holding the clutch assembly together. Disassemble the clutch and reassemble it with the new clutch hub. Reinstall the primary drive. Apply one line of Loctite 271 inside the mainshaft nut and torque it to 70-80 foot pounds LEFT HANDED. Apply two lines of Loctite 271 (red) to the compensator nut and torque it to 150-165 foot pounds. This is what the locking bar is for, to keep the engine from turning while applying the torque to these two nut. Adjust the primary chain and reinstallt the outer primary. Add about one quart of lubricant to the primary. Reconnect the battery. Adjsut the clutch and cable.

How do I remove the primary to get to my primary shift lever on a 2005 harley super glide


This is a major job. Far too much information for this forum. It will require a lot of typing in this small space.

First, you'll need a few tools that you may or may not have. You'll need an air impact wrench capable of breaking a nut with 165 foot pounds of torque and red locktite on it. Next you'll need a torque wrench capable of putting 150-165 foot pounds of torque on the nut. You'll also need a torque that will torque to 60-80 foot pounds LEFT HANDED. Not all torque wrenches will torque left handed threaded fasteners. If you have these or can get them, Please drop me a line at wd4ity@bellsouth.net I'll type out instructions step by step.

I want to disassemble a rear end of a "86" Suburban (to replace the spider gears)and I am not sure how to go about this can you help?


You will need the following....
Dial indicator
Gear marking compound and a clean brush
Calipers or a micrometer
Bearing pullers
Bearing press
Three foot long breaker bar or strong impact gun
Pinion nut socket
Ring gear bolt socket
Carrier cap bolt socket
Six point cross pin bolt wrench
Brake line wrench
Pry bars for removing the carrier case
24 oz ball pein hammer
48 oz sledge hammer
48 oz plastic dead blow hammer
Assorted brass punches
Punch for marking carrier caps
Oil drain pan
Foot pounds torque wrench
Inch pounds torque wrench
That should get it apart and back togather.

Bit is stuck in btd142 driver


the makita impact drivers are picky about the bit that you use. if you use a single sided bit you have to make sure the distance between the channel and the end is 9mm (3/8) and if you're using a double sided bit you have to make sure the distance from tip to channel is 12mm (15/32)

try using a 1/4" wrench on the bit in reverse while pulling the collar back. if that doesnt work, tap the tip of the bit with a hammer with the collar pulled back
