You have to find the router's IP address and log into the router. It would be something like 172.0.0.x. Since you forgot the router password, your going to have to press the reset button on the router itself to reset the router to factory settings. Check the user manual if you don't know where the reset button is. After that, your going to have to reset the password on the router. The usual default router username and password are "user" for username and "password" for the password. Make sure you make a more secure username and password for the router log in and router wireless security. If you need more help, write me back.

Hi,ihooked up my router weeks ago and im still having very ,very, low signal, now i have no signal at all

The goal is to isolate the problem to either the environment, the computer hardware or the wireless router.

Location of the router versus the PC isn't critical unless you have lots of competing devices, wireless home phones, other wireless routers (apartment buildings always lots of them now) microwave ovens, etc. Walls, furniture, metal appliances, etc can also sometimes be a problem, Try moving the router closer to the PC to see if it helps.

If you have another router try it and see if the signal is stronger. If no, the problem could be in the PC. If you are using an internal wireless card (laptop) the PC might need to be elevated or an external antenna attached if one is available. Reseating the wireless card (or the internal antenna wire) inside the laptop might also help.

If you are using a usb wireless adapter try a 6 foot usb "extender" so the wireless adapter can be moved up to a higher location.

If you're tapping in to your neighbor's wifi, sorry, can't help you with that. Sorry if that offends you but you'd be surprised how many people ask for help with that but don't tell the truth about how they are connecting, and just lead the technician on a wild goose chase trying to solve non-existent problem!

Its always disconnecting and reconnecting automatically from the net

This could be a driver problem.Go to the manufacture website and look for driver downloads but using another computer. The other alt is to phone the manufacturer and ask them to send a disc for that model router.
You could have a week signal also. You may need a booster amp.
Tell your nearest computer shop the problem.Did you get this fault the first time you connected it?If so, it could also be faulty unit.

I have just purchased a new computer and am trying to connect it to an existing Lynksys wireless network. To do so it asks for a WEP key or WPA key. Where do I find this?

Yes, I've also had some problems with Linksys. You need to configure the properties of your wireless network so that it automatically obtains the IP and DNS info. Go to your network connections, right click on your wireless network, go to properties, go to Internet Protocol Version 4, click Properties, and select the "automatically obtain" options.

This should fix your problem. However, it may not. The problem can be something else. But you do not need a WEP key or anything. I just talked to a representative from the company a few days ago and they said that you must always select the automatically obtain choices. If this doesn't work, I recommend calling Linksys. They will be able to help you and they are your best option.
Also, remember that if your computer is not recognizing the network, always try resetting your modem and restarting your computer.

My Linksys network adapter is very slow to connect

Ask them to review you connection speed to make sure your getting the speed you ordered. Linksys is usually pretty good. See if it's faster WITHOUT using the wireless (plug directly into the modem). If it is I can only think of two things... Ether you need to relocate your wireless modem to acheive a stronger signal OR if your signal is strong on your adapters end, you could always upgrade to a different wireless adapter that can handle faster conections.

Keep loseing signal

This might sound funny but chance are you are running on the same wave of a cordless phone maybe? I known a few people that have 2.4 gig phones and when they get a phone call there wireless network dies. Then picks right up after the call is over. Also might be other thing of that nature.

Linksey Modem and router wireless

This will depend on the store you bought it from. To alleviate the low signal, however, you can try a few things. How far is your computer from the router? Have you tried multiple machines, and do all get low signal? It's possible that other routers in the area are interfering, and if that's the case you can change the channel from the common default of 11 to something else.
