Use a small torx or if none available, a small screwdriver to gently remove the two screws on the back of the unit. Gently pry the sides away from the back. Open the unit carefully. Remove the two screws securing the system board to the back of the Zire. Gently open( like a book) the boards and screens. Once I did that I turned the Zire on using the switch that is only a small bump on the sytem board. After a gentle tap pr two the touchpad bagan working again. Carefully reassemble the unit and hope it lasts another while. Just in case, do a Hotsync so that your data is saved should this "adjustment" fail to solve your problem.

Hi, Are you sure that your Device didn't hang while booting? If no, then replace the touchpad. The Touchpad can be replaced, if you cant replace it in your area, buy another screen to simply solve the problem. If yes, then flash your ROM with either an updated version (recommended) or the "follow-come" ROM. Go to HP website to get the appropriate ROM.
Have you tried blueinput http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=bluemouse it isn't free but there is a trail version which would allow you to see if it works.
I had a version without the touchpad and I couldn't get the keyboard to pair consistantly until I used this, do you have pairing problems with just the keyboard part? I would pair but not respond.
I am planning on getting this keyboard very soon so would be good to know if it helps.
hi dear friend i solved yours problem> do this> enter this code 3845#*990# its opened the system specification scroll down and goes into the factory rest option and enter it rest your mobile and all program is set it his original position > now your mobile is again zero meter and your problem will solved. take care if any other information required contact me email@example.com
The problem could be the touchscreen but, typically, with the Z22 it's more of a configuration problem. I would recommend doing a "hard reset" after syncronizing. To reset the unit to factory specs hold in the reset (in the back) and the power button simultaneously for, at least, five seconds. Instead of the Palm icon you'll see a prompt to push up on the touchpad to reset to factory defaults. Then, go through the entire setup process, including the Digitizer to initialize and calibrate the touchpad. Hopefully, that should restore the touchpad. Otherwise, well, replacing that thing yourself is NOT easy.
This is clearly a hardware fault in the actual lcd display or the connector to the mainboard. the stylus function are controlled by the touchpad, it is mounted separated from the actual lcd display (on top of it) and connected with another set of wires to the mainboard. Most probably your problem can't be solved. However, try to take it to a service to have it checked, especially the connectors between the lcd and mainboard.
