Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

Netgear WGR614 Power light goes off.

The power light suddenly goes off and I have to re-plug the power again and again to make it work. The re-plugging of power does not immediately fixes it, I have to try several times and then it works. Not sure how to fix this. Need help. Thanks in advance. Happy New Year 2009.

    The last time I remember this happening was because I had the wrong power supply for the router. Is yours the original Netgear power supply of either 1 or 1.2 amps?

I understad that you need to powercycle the router for it to work. In this case, please note that this indicates failure with the router hardware. The only thing you can do now is upgrade the firmware on the router. You may check for firmware updates by visiting the site below:

After uploading the firmware on the router, reset the router and reconfigure it.

If the issue persists ten the best bet for the router is to either get it replaced or trash it.

My netgear wgr614 router quit working. no lights are on, no signal. any advice?????

First check the power supply and where it's plugged into. Power strip breaker? plastic block fell out of outlet?
If you have a meter, check that you're getting 5 volts or more at the end you plug into the router. You could fudge it with a peice of wire and a flashlight bulb. If it lights up bright, at all, then it's putting out juice. If router still no lights, toss it. It's dead.
You'll need a new one.

I have the netgear WGR614v.7 All power is out. No lights or anything. Tried the reset, no luck. Dead???

Have you tried another power cable ? If you have the same problem then yes it is probably dead.

Netgear wgr614 v9 not working. no power light. only a buzzing noise when plugged in.

Stop using the device as the buzzing noise is likely going to be a fire hazard. You will be better off recycling the device and purchasing another. It cannot be repaired.

My power light on my Netgear WGR614 wireless router keeps blinking & will not allow me access to the internet.I have unpluged it, pressed the reset button & the light keeps blinking.Any thoughts?

Maybe you had a power surge.

The reset button does nothing with the router powered off, basically you hold the reset button in for 30 seconds with the router powered on. Following this you will need to set up the router again as all settings will be reset to factory defaults, from the sounds of it though the router may be dead.

Another reset method is as follows;

1. With the router powered off hold in the reset button,
2. Keep the reset button in, power on the router, wait 30 seconds,
3. Keep the reset button in, power off the router, wait 30 second,
4. Release the reset button.

Did you have wireless disabled?

If you have access to a multimeter check the PSU is working correctly.

Router keeps loosing connection to computer maybe

sometimes the modem will kick off line, from a power glitch. I recommend you isolate the printer from that modem power strip and see how that works.

Can you tell me if all of the four numbers should be lit up to reflect the Netgear WGR614 is working? My internet connection suddenly quit and I just noticed that on the number "1" is lit.

On a router, the numbers light up only if there is an active computer plugged in to that port. One computer plugged into port 1 the number 1 wil light, and same with 2, 3, 4. No device plugged in to port = no light. Different color lights with different data rates.

Wireless light out after long power outage,

Netgear WGR614 internet light not coming on

Hi there.
Reset the wireless router by removing the power cord from the back of it for 30-60 seconds, then plug the power back in wait for 2 mins then try to reconnect again.
If you get no joy please post back for aditional advice.

Can't get my netgear wireless router connected again to the internet

There is a small reset pin hole on the back where the power plugs in. Use a pin and push it in for 30 seconds, while plugged in. This will reset your router back to the factory settings. When done, just run the install disk again.
