Question about Sony MHC-GX45 CD Shelf System

Power light only flashes

Power light only blinks repeatedly on/off when I try to turn it on even after I unplug it. Happened suddenly. Same results both with remote and turning it on via the console. Is it dead, memory erased, or other?

Re: power light only flashes

No that is the unit telling you I am shorted so I will not turn on as it could cause a fire. Most likely there is a short in the audio output amplifier. This unit will need to ba taken into a repair shop and diagnosed. Good Luck

My JVC HX-Z1 chimes and turns itself off and I can't turn it back on unless I unplug and plug it back in. How do I fix this?

The power supply is bad. This is not something that you can replace. IT has a bad capacitor on it.

What can be done when the notification light flashes twice only after power button pressed, but will not turn on.

More than likely, the amplifier is damaged. That's why you have the blinking light. The other other thing you can try, without professional service, is to follow the reset procedure in your owner's manual. It may also be called, "Return to factory defaults".

Can't get the stereo out of "demo repeat play" - it won't even turn off. If I unplug it, it automatically comes back on in "demo" play when plugged back in

It's in the manual, page 24.

Press EQ master on the front panel in power off state to demonstrate the function in the display window. To
cancel it, press POWER or EQ master again.

Why do my sony mhc-gx450 cd shelf system power lights keep blinking

This usually indicates faulty wiring, or miswiring. Disconnect the wires, one set and turn the unit off and on to see if that elimates your problem. If it does, the wiring or component is at fault. If you disconnect everything and have the same problem, it's an internal fault with the unit and will have to be troubleshot. Get and estimate first, to evaluate whether or not it's economical to keep, or replace with a new one. Good luck, hope this helps.

Just want codes for remote, i lost original and have universal remote it is an infrared remote control center, electronic input center

You can find the remote control codes for different brands of devices from

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash rapidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.don't forget to rate as ...

Lights flash on the unit at night making it hard to sleep!

The power button does nothing in relation to this!!! Press the x-bass/demo button at the bottom of the remote. That should fix the blinking lights! :)

Unresponsive buttons

First, try unplugging the unit for a couple of hours. That should reset the internal microprocessor. If that fails, try pushing all of the buttons one at a time. If one of them is stuck, nothing will work properly. You should be able to feel the button working. Report back here with your results.

Stereo Died

It most likely blew a fuse as a result of the power supply or the power output curcuit blowing out. Unless you have the proper tools and the the right test equipment , I am afraid you will not be able to repair this as this repair will require you to have the circuit diagram and follow the short. My best advise would be if this unit cost less the a couple of hundred bucks, Time to go shopping, as the repair would most likely exceed half if not more. Good Luck

"Protect" and "Push Power"

Doiuble check your wiresa again for no pinches or shorts, even at the back of the unit. Also try unplugging the unit for 12 to 24 hours. If that does not help, it may be the time to buy a new stereo because that means there is a fault in the output device, unless you kinow someone who can trouble shoot and repair solid state electronics.
