Start by checking the ETCS fuse in the engine room fuse box. If it's good, you may have an open circuit between the fuse box and ECM.

More then likely you have a bad ground wire. You will have to start tracing this problem back to find the issue. Other issue is a intermittent power wire shorting

sure can. if the pump relay quits working while your driving it will shut the engine down

idle air CONTROLLER,bad or TPS sensor not adjusted right or bad,throttle cable in bind or gas pedal

Right at the hood release are there are fuses on the bottom are the relays the fuel pump relay should be called circuit opening relay

1992 4Runner circuit opener relay causing rich Idle


It may be that the O2 sensor is faulty or contaminated. Another possibility is that after running rich for some time, the catalytic converter is slagged and no longer working properly. Have you been able to get any diagnostic codes from the car's computer? Is the check engine light on?
