SOURCE: how to adjust belt on skil belt sander

There should be a tracking adjustment knob on the side of the sander behind the front roller. Run the saw and adjust this knob to center the belt. You will probably have to do this every time you change belts. Hope this helps you...

SOURCE: have a skil 7500 belt sander, belt has wrapped

Replaced brushes in my 7500 3x18" Skil Belt Sander & they only go in one way. I had to take off both side covers to see what I was doing and saw the drive belt. Take the side frame off, remove the old drive belt, replace with a new one. Can't see how it could tightly lodged as the drive is basically "closed" around the edges. I pulled mine off just to see if I could clen it a bit. Hope I seeing what your speaking of.
Good Luck.

AIWA AD-F800 Replaced belts, old ones totally degraded. If I insert a cassette it will play but only play for 2 seconds (good audio out) but then it stops?

It is important to thoroughly degrease the pulleys before fitting the new belts and it also helps to remove some of the polished drive surfaces with some fine Scotchbrite.
It can also be the perfect time to apply a little light machine oil here and there with a precision oiler.

Finding new belts can be a problem. Most people left to their own initiative will select a belt that fits, often using the old belt as a pattern or by measuring. Unfortunately it is rare the correct size of belt will provide enough friction to drive everything successfully. As a general rule the square or round section belts of the right size must be stretched considerably in order to do the job. Even flat neoprene belts must be stretched by a large amount to fit and drive.

In the absence of knowing the correct size it is well to measure and guesstimate a suitable size smaller and then fit progressively smaller until satisfactory operation is achieved.

Replace belts on realistic sct-30

I can't tell you how to change the belt on your model though I have changed many belts...

Some belts are fairly straightforward to access and others are more like a torturous route march but once the belt has been accessed, the next problem is identifying the belt cross section and diameter.

Buying a belt from the manufacturer as a spare part is likely to be expensive and often difficult as the trade generally prefers to obtain replacement belts from a general component supplier meaning the manufacturer needn't keep any stock.

Replacement belts are listed in diameter of length size increments and cross section shape and size. If you know the size of belt needed, ordering is easy but belts begin to stretch from day one so measuring the old belt would be useless and using string or a tape around the pulleys also useless.

Typically a new belt of the right size must be stretched to fit around the pulleys - some considerably and some not as much and mostly by how much smaller the new belt needs to be is pure guesswork, consequently it usually pays to order a selection of sizes and choose the one that provides the best result.

Before fitting it is well to remove all traces of residue and oil or grease from the pulleys and to slightly abrade any highly polished driving surfaces with something like Scotchbrite.

Took the old belt in to measure and this new one seems to be about an inch to short. How do I stretch it to fit or is it wrong size all together?

You can't strech the belt, slacken the adjuster, fit the belt & re adjust. If it still doesn't fit, the belt is the wrong size

I am looking for a drive belt for a mastercraft 3x21 beltsander. the belt says 120xL031. cant seem to find one anywhere.

The belt you can replace with a is simply any generic 3x21 belt. You can find them at your local hardware store or order them from a website like Home Depot, etc and have them shipped to your home. Here is a link to take you to Home Depot specifically for an 80 grit, but you can look for other grits as well. 3" is your width and 21" is the diameter of the belt you need.

Is60v belt replacement. The replacement belt seems difficult to fit.size/ belt number checked against old one & details are the same. What is the method of replacing / refitting the belt?

The belts do appear to be undersize, this is because they are a stretch belt, and this makes them very difficult to fit.
Remove the top cover and right hand side panel of dryer, this will give you access to the belt.
Move the front panel forward to fit the new belt on the drum, and then you really have to pull hard down on the belt to get it round the motor pulley.
It is very difficult.
Good luck.

Have a skil 7500 belt sander, belt has wrapped around drive, how can I fix this

You basically have to keep dismantling the tool untill you can get the belt out, then re-assemble the tools again. Sorry to be so basic but thats about the only way to solve this problem. Sometimes you can cut the belt up and remove it, but most times you have to disassemble the tool some.
