Question about RCA RT2250 System

1 Answer

I have a RCA RT2250 and I have a green light on a circuit board

The green light comes on when first turned on than goes off after a few mins. When light is on I get static out of the sub and DSP modes but after the lights off I get sound out of front L-R and sub. Also power button does not work most of the time but goes on by tuner button.when turning on from demo mode the system shuts down after a few mins, but turn demo off and push tuner it will stay on.No sound comes through rear or center chans though. Im wondering if it could be the chip by the light that says CRYSTAL CS4226-KQ and how can I test it and what is needed. I am also not sure how you find part #s.I would apreciate any info any one would have about this problem or the system,if it is worth fixing etc... Tanks for your time.

Check the solder connections on the seven voltage regulators found in the center of the receiver on the heat sink from front to back (not the amp board) they are on the main board. The green light on the DSP board (back right side) is an error light. You can reset the receiver by pushing power then stadium then night then dsp off then club after unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in.

Hope this helps,

Rca hdtv 52inch will play fine then picture goes black but still has sound.. after a few mins.picture will come back on , and will play fine could last all day or may go out again in a few mins.

My tv is relatively new, but the bad thing is that I had an old; big screen tube type rca model; home theatre, that was heavier than a car, and it went out, due to the cracking and popping sound, off sometimes, and back on.
What is strange is the new tv now, the hdtv, light weight, about five years old, is doing the same thing. Actually, now, the power will not even come on. The lcd green light in the front goes on and off.
Take no offense, but I thought I would not have these problems anymore. What do you suggest?

When i unplug my rca rt2250 home theater system. the green light comes on on the right side. then goes off. everything works good after that speakers sound good. but once in a while that green light comes...

this is the amp IC and while unplugging and plugging it in again helps reset the IC for a little while , it will eventually completely quit and will need replaced
make sure that none of the speaker wires(bare wires) are touching or look like they might be where they are connected at
also if turning up the volume makes it cut out or sound bad then this will also indicate a bad amp IC

A repair question for the RCA M50WH74S

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

TV will not power up

Opened up the back and vacuumed out all the caked on dust that was everywhere. I used an insulated brush to help remove the dust. Dust can kill heat dissipation. Open up the front and check for fluid under the CRT circuit boards. The one on the right (as you face your TV) is the blue one. For some reason, the diaphram for the glycerin in the blue optic is on the back side and leans down. It tends to leak and spill on to the circuit board below. Some symptoms I noticed: blue shadow, blinking blues, complete blue outage, unable to complete the autoconvergence, and arcing/sparking (from another post). I had to pull out the blue CRT, silconed the rubber gasket, refilled the fluid and repaired some solder joints where the fluid caused a short. Works like a champ now. Tell tale sign is the pool of fluid when you access the front chassis. Pull off the speaker grill and shine a flashlight on the inside underneath the CRT circuit boards and look for the fluid. Glycerin doesn't dry.
