Question about Gateway DX4200-09 PC Desktop
My old mouse is Scotch-taped together and since I have the new/unused Gateway mouse, I plugged it in and started the computer. It did not light up - and when it does, it still does not move the Pointer. Help please.
If the mouse pointer works with a different mouse, then the problem is with the mouse that you are using now. You will need to get a new one if that's the case.

Yes your asking too much of it,
An old system cannot keep up with all the memory intensive programmes and the processor will not cycle the information fast enough for you
This is why it is slow
add more ram, bigger hard disk drive too will help
if you can

increase the page file size,

You power supply is broken. It can happen at the drop of a hat. Plug in your PC model in google and follow it by the words power supply. You should be able to get one for $20 or less.

does your motherboard identify your new video card? make sure to put the new video card on the right slot. then check all the cables which is connected on your monitor going to the tower. make sure to connect the vga cable of the monitor to your new video card. try to power on computer and install the video card driver which comes with your new video card.

SOURCE: My gateway dx4300-03 starts up
Hi, The solution to fix the problem is by changing your power supply. Just make sure that you replace it with a 500W or higher and not with the same 300W which does not have enough power for this system, plus it is defective. I have changed the power supply to 4 diferent gateway PCs same model dx4300. And all 4 are working perfect. And run a check disk on CMD to fix the disk errors that were created every time you unplugged it and turned it on again.
