Acer Laptop - virus

I got a virus, and it won't let me do anything on my laptop. The Hard drive keeps reading. I've only had the laptop for 9 days, backups were not done. I have McAfee installed on it but when I run it, it stops responding along with any other program I run (iexplorer, antispyware, etc...). The Laptop is running on Windows Vista (unfortunately). Any direction/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Model: Aspire 5735Z
Before my Laptop became completely useless, I had found the following viruses: Vundo.exe (trojan), trojan.virtue.mondie...

Try to boot in safe mode. if it does not work :
try 2 get a norton antivirus on DVD/CD. 2008 or 2009 edition.
and auto start setup will detect the virus and remove it.

if it still not solves ur problem insert ur vista installation disk and autorun Vista setup will start. Format ur drive when setup asks you.

Acer Aspire 5002WLMi Laptop won't recognize full 320 Gigabytes of new PATA hard drive. It's always been running a 80 Gigabyte 4200 RPM but that drive is old...a 2005 HD. New WD320 only reads 137...

The BIOS in the ACER determines the maximum size of the hard drive it can support.
Check the laptop's specification to see the max size you can install in this model laptop.
It appears that the max size your laptop can support is 140 Gb (unformatted). 137Gb formatted.

I suggest you install a hard drive up to 140 Gb capacity in your laptop and place the 320 Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and when you attach this hard drive to the USB port in your ACER laptop then you will be able to get the full 320 Gb capacity after you delete the partition and create a 320 Gb partition and format the hard drive.

My computer has a virus . I 've been around

Please try to install the Kaspersky internet security 2012 by downloading trail version.
Better to install this in SAFE MODE with NETWORKING . By pressing F8, you can get the options like safe mode, etc...

Otherwise, please remove the harddisk and attach to another pc or laptop externally and SCAN this hard disk completely with Kaspersky internet security 2012. Before you attach this virus hardisk to another system., please install the good system with Kaspersky internet security 2012..

Hope this helps to you..

My acer laptop will not turn on.. a black screen keeps popping up saying "read error" and will not do anything else. WHY?

It's possible that your (hard disk drive) HDD is damaged. Can you pull it out and test it on another system? Also, does the laptop has it's stock RAM or did you add more? If you did, I suggest you remove the new RAM and leave it with the stock one. of can't pull your HDD out, contact your acer center for them to check out your hard disk. its much better if your laptop is under warranty. all technical problems and damages are fixed for free.

Sounds like a virus. Remove the drive from the laptop and connect it to another computer using a USB cable. These cables can be purchased for around $20 from tigerdirect.com or compusa.com. After it is connected, scan the drive for viruses using your desktop antivirus program. If you do not have an antivirus program, I recommend that you download Microsoft Security Essentials for free from Microsoft's download site. http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

My laptop will not connect to windows, just keeps rebooting

If the laptop keeps on rebooting, the only problem is the hard drive (HD). You need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the Windows. The reason why this is happening is because Windows is corrupted due to some reason (most likely due to virus).

Have a great day!

My acer 3680 laptop wo't read a 4 gig hc sd card

Good day sir/maam, you may need a driver for your SD card reader for vista. pop in the cd that came with your notebook to the cd drive. make sure its for Vista.
If still does not work, plug in a non HC sd, like a 1 gig SD card. if it works, then the card reader only supports non hc SD. ( I know it usually supports HC cards ) check also for viruses. there are viruses that can dissable sd card readers. just make sure your laptop is virus free.
