Hi, I have a Toshiba Portege M600 Laptop. It suddenly gave a message that No Audit output device is installed. I am unable to hear any music or have voice chats.
I tried going to the control panel and reinstall the audio drivers. But I do not know what is the audio device my laptop has.
after rebooting the laptop there comes a red cross on the speaker and there is no audio. i have also got the motherboard changed as per the recommendation from a Toshiba engineer but to no avail. i have tried to reinstall the drivers N number of times but still the same prob..... i guess it is a common prob with Toshiba Portege M600 and i really regret my decision of buying this machine. Open Start /Control Panel / Sound - check that mute is off and volume is up. Check drivers in device manager for problematic drivers. If non found the try updating the sound drivers. Reboot system.... If problem still persists then go to maufacturer web and search documentation for specific issues.
Try checking the drivers on the Toshiba for the audio . Try updating them online and also try a bios update . Then check, Also in safe mode is the sound working ?? And if not try to check the sound in BIOS . Press random keys and check if sound comes . If it does not come hardware issue . if it comes software issue . If its a software issue try a restore or a recovery .
Download the chipset drivers for you motherboard, and then reinstall the audio drivers. This should fix the problem. If you don't know what motherboard you have, download everest. The program will most likely have a link to your motherboards manufacturer.
Try the audio driver on this page:http://www.laptops-drivers.com/toshiba-drivers/download-driver-for-toshiba-portege-m600-ppm61-windows-xp.htmlI searched all over and it was all I could find. Toshiba for some reason doesn't have it on their site.
Maybe the problem is in your BIOS, you might need to enable something. Or maybe the CMOS battery is was going bad, and now it's shot, so your system doesn't remember it's settings.
Check the device manager and see if you have a audio driver. To do this go to Start, then right click computer, go to properties, when the next window pops up go to Hardware, and click device manager. There you can see what your audio is saying
