SOURCE: 3.25 Gb usable Ram for 4Gb installed ram

I realize this is a bit old, but see http://j.mp/VFhL7v I think Warf135 is close. I think it's a problem or limitation of the 945 chipset.

I have increased RAM from 2 to 4GB and installed Widows 7 64 bit. Computer properties show RAM 4GB 2.75GB usable. 1282MB reserved. How do I make more RAM usable?

It's the shared memory for the Integrated graphics card, your RAM shares memory to the graphics card, and you are using a lot. If you want more memory, enter BIOS and there should be something about shared memory, and put it at 256 MB or so.

How much more RAM can be added?

Windows 32 bit supports up to 4GB, but will only give 3GB as usable. 64 bit is a whole different story, but keep in mind that most software is not written for large amounts of RAM.

Hi Trifon,
you are detecting a known problem for 32 bit operating systems.
The problem for those system is that they can manage maximum 3 Gb of RAM.
If you want all of your RAM used you have to install a 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has also a version for 64 bit as well as windows xp (but is not good supported) and windows vista.

When i install Bios up date for MSI KT6 Delta MS-6590 to up grade my RAM to 3 GB i have Problem m My PC go to hill too slowly but i have 2400+ CPU ???? how can i solve my problem

Ram need to be installed in pairs. Windows XP only recognizes a max of 4GB ram 3.5 usable. Windows Vista 32bit only recognizes a max of 4GB ram as well as Windows 7 32bit. Vista/7 64bit can recognise a much larger amount of ram. Find out if your operating system is 32 or 64 bit and make sure you are using the right kind of ram for your system.

The maximum amount of RAM that that motherboard can hold is 4GB. You should also know that 32-bit WIndows Operating Systems will only use 3GB of RAM though. 64-bit Operating Systems will recognize and utilize more.

You'll need to clear the bios back to its default settings. There sre five versions of motherboards.
See the list below;
P4M890-M7 TE 7.x
P4M890-M7 SE 7.x
P4M890-M7 PCI-E 7.1
P4M890-M7 PCI-E 7.0
P4M890-M7 FE 7.x
I'll guide you using the manual for P4M890-M7 FE 7.x
Turn to page 17 and follow the instruction to clear the cmos. Open page 6 for a closer look of the JCMOS location. Once finished you will need to enter the bios and re-setup the settings. This time around try not to over clock the memory.

4GB ram (3.37GBram) usable

Hello Matthew,

Only 64bit operating system can use more than 3.5gb. You have to install either Windows Vista Pro 64bit or Windows 7 64bit to get the extra memory. I know it sounds like waste but your system is operating just fine and will be very fast just as it is. The 64bit operating systems are good but if you use your system for games then don't go to 64bit. There are many things that won't work right on 64bit systems like some printer, scanners, sound cards and even some programs.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
