Question about GE Advantium 120 Convection/Microwave Oven

Sensor error and periodic beeping for Advantium 120

After making popcorn, screen sometimes (sometimes not) shows sensor error. It then proceeds to beep every 45 seconds. It does eventually stop, perhaps after glass carousel cools down. Never used as oven. Any ideas how to resolve?

I do not open microwave during cooking of popcorn. Interesting comment on sensor error -- I'll need to focus on exactly when this message appears. I'll also need to check on internal fan running -- I'll put in some popcorn tonight -- but do not recall hearing any fan internal to microwave -- not ever.

Listened to sound clip of fan. I can never recall hearing the Microwave does not make this sound.

Model number is SCA1001FSS01. I've also confirmed the internal fan does not go one when making popcorn.

I meant to ask for your model number.

There is a bulletin about mistakenly swapped wires allowing interference to cause sensor errors.

In other cases it is a software problem on the smart board.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

Some notes from the owner's manual:

If you open the door while sensor
    cooking, SENSOR ERROR will
    appear. Close the door, press
    START to begin again

(Using a popcorn pad on a sensor model is one form of sensor cooking)

Does this seem like it might be the case?

Does it seem like the internal cooling fan is running properly whenever you're microwaving?

    When I say internal
cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn
    on and off manually.

    I'm instead talking
about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you
    microwave.

If the internal cooling fan does not come on when you're microwaving, the magnetron will overheat and the thermal cutout will be tripped, causing the oven to go dead until it cools back down.

If this happens more than a few times, the magnetron can be damaged.

If the turntable is not turning (assuming it's not set to be off) when you're microwaving, then the problem lies on the relay circuit board (sub PC).

If the turntable is wokring and the fan is not, then the fan motor or wiring is at fault.

At this point, with such odd problems, I recommend that you contact GE customer service for your nearest GE-authorized service center

GE Customer Service is here.

Good luck.

The beverage sensor on my advantium after six months is not working - coffee boils over before the over goes off. Sometimes it will say sensor error.

You can find helpful exploded views and order parts (including the humidity sensor) here.

The Advantium service manuals are here and here and have disassembly info and part numbers.

I have a GE profile advantium 120 . The panel lights up I do not get an error code the timer works but it does not heat up. what could cause this

Check your power setting, making sure that you are cooking at 100%. Adjust if necessary.
It could also be a bad magnetron.

Broken Bottom Latch Pawl GE Advantium 120 Microwave

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Preheat Freezes

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, the temperature sensor / thermistor may have failed.

If you don't have the manual, you can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Let us know if wee can help further.
