It had been working for 2 weeks. I shut it off one morning, and the next, it wouldn't power on. I tried recharging, holding the menu button down to "reset", making sure the lock wasn't set on the back, and updating software...

    Any help?

I have a new 8GB RCA mp3 that won't turn on-it will turn on for about 3 seconds and say initializing then cut off after being fully charged.

Try removing the battery and plug it into the usb, or test the battery volts with a meter if you have one.

RCA MP3 M208 won't hold charge -- Only about a yr old

either the battery pack itself is bad, or the ribbon connection cable that attaches battery to main circuit board is faulty, broken, or loose. It is common.

When i plug my rca mp3 4208RD-B into the computer port to charge it tells me the battery is full. when i disconnect it and try to turn it on, it says"!low battery shutting down!" how do i successfully...

The battery is probably not the issue. Sounds more like there is an issue internally with the firmware. I suggest reinstalling the firmware, which can be downloaded here:

Be sure to back up any important media on your device before performing the reinstall of the firmware.

My mp3 player is frozen and wont start up

Try this:

If that doesn't work and it is under warranty, take it back and get a new one.

My 8GB opal mp3 player wont cut on or charge up at all. What is the problem?

i held down the power button for about 10 seconds in resoponse to another answer when I was having the same problem as you, and then mine began to charge, when it would say battery is full before, but not work because of low battery. hope this works for you.
