Re: startup problem

I had a similar case with a desktop. final solution was to get another hard drive and "start over". to recover your personal files, get a mini hard drive enclosure and connect to your newly-drived lap with USB and transfer them. There is another, cheaper solution, although I have not ever tried it. During startup, press the F6 or F8 key to see a list of possible startup options (or read your manual for mfg-specific keys). Look for one that hopefully says "abort restore operation".

Brand new samsung notebook rv515 wont start up. start up repair keeps coming up

You can try getting to your boot menu to bypass this section of the startup, but you will probably be better off exchanging it for another one. You may have accidentally received a refurbished computer, or the computer didn't power down correctly after testing.

Computer wont start up...

It means it cannot find it's operating system or windows to start. When a PC boots it checks for boot devices, usually the floppy, then cdrom, then hard drive, if there is a disk in the floppy or if your pc is set to boot from cdrom and there is a disc in it - it will say OS not found.
The second possible cause is something has happened to windows - either the hard drive has failed or windows has lost it's startup files. If the drive appears to be normal and chatters slightly on startup ( a light clicking noise) then possibly running the original windows install disc and reinstallin windows should fix the problem, on 98 or ME you can re-install, on 2000 or XP try the recover/repair option first.

Windows shut down to prevent damage

You need to boot your system into Safe Mode by pressing F8 just before the Windows startup screen loads, once in Safe Mode do a system restore to a previous date to when your system was working.

This should sort out your problem.

When you boot up your computer, press the F8 key until you get some choices such as Safe Mode and Command Prompt. There will be an option for Last Known Good Configuration. Select this and hopefully it will restore your computer settings to the way it was before this happened.

Startup problem

I would recommend you to boot your system and safe mode and do a system restore...To open your computer and safe mode hit the F8 button on your keyboad when the computer is booting safe mode..and then once you get to safe mode its going to give you an option to restore your computer to another day..after the restore is finish, you should be able to use the computer without any problems...

Startup problem

From: If the ntoskrnl.exe file is corrupt or missing this can also generate the error. To restore this file follow the below steps. 1. Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD. Note: If you have a recovery CD or a restore CD and not a Microsoft Windows XP CD it is likely the below steps will not resolve your issue. 2. Reboot the computer, as the computer is starting you should see a message to press any key to boot from the CD. When you see this message press any key. 3. In the Microsoft Windows XP setup menu press the R key to enter the recovery console. 4. Select the operating system you wish to fix, and then enter the administrator password. 5. Type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32 6. You will then be prompted if you wish to overwrite the file type Y and press enter to overwrite the file. 7. Type exit to reboot the computer. If you only have a restore CD, this probably won't work. You should just start the restore all over again, if this is the case.
