Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I bought this typewriter used it wont type it just types straight up and down lines how do i get it to typewriter mode
You didn't ngive a make or model. SWome have a slide switch and some have a key marked TW/WP.

The paper release lever may be in the release mode. try holding the left platen knob and pulling lightly on the paper is should not allow the paper to move freely, if it is ok try holding the left knob and turning the right knob in the direction you would to turn the paper in it may have come loose if so turn it all the way back in do not over tighten it your machine does not click when the platen is turned it uses electronics to hold the platen on line.

It sounds like you either don't have a printwheel in the T/W or the spokes are broken. What you are seeing is the hammer face.

Look for a delay print mode - probably a slide switch. If not, check out to see if there is a code or control button. Usually works by holding the code button in conjunction with another key. ie: Code and "D". Model # would be a help.
