It isnt the Y-SUS board, it is the Power supply, iv fixed this exact problem twice in the last month, try turning the tv on, and when it turns green, unplug it real fast, while light is still green, after 15 seconds plug it back in, then hit the power button, if it dont come on, hit the power button again, this time, as soon as it turns off, hit the power button again to turn back on, sometimes you can trick the tv and it will turn on, at least i was able to do it, and once it comes on, it should work fine, untill you turn it off again.

Hello williams6590,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

Your problem is the X-Sustain Board. There are a large number of componants and connections on this board. I recommend purchasing it from eBay! and then having a TV Repair Professional install it.

Here is a link to purchase the part:

HI:
This is a plasma unit and philips plasma's are nortorious for bad power supplys, your problem may very well be the power suppy in the television, it is possible you blew a low B+ fuse on the power supply. There is also a issue with the Y-sustain board failing in this model, If you open the back and looking at the unit from the rear the y board is on the left side of the unit and the PS is in the center. disconnect the Y-sustain power plug from the power supply and turn on the unit if the unit stays on with no red light then the y board is bad. it does the same then replace the Power Supply.

My Philips flat screen tv model 50pfp5332d/37 I turned my tv on the blue light is on but nothing is on the screen it's making a clicking sound

It could be a power supply problem. In this model at least 2 capacitors, go bad in the power supply I think they're 1000uf/10V. If you look at the power supply board you will notice a bad cap with a blister on the top. The whole power board is from $100 - $200. I fixed a lot of these sometime the Y or sustain board goes bad. Visual inspection then measuring voltages..
Best of luck

I have a Philips 42"

The most common problem with those TVs is the burnout of the infamous trio of Y sustain board and buffer boards.

To test if it is them at fault you can disconnect the power to the Y sustain and try to turn the TV on.

If it comes and stays on then this is it.

I headrd a POP sound and my TV would not turn on and red light would blink 7 times. Will

hi,
if this is a plasma TV you may have an issue with something that is called a X-sustain or a y-sustain board. these are the board that control the image on the screen, its referred to as the "POP of death" i would suggest opening the TV inspecting the boards (they are usually the board on top with aluminum heat sinks) and looking for busted or burnt capacitors!

Would not turn on

This is a common problem with plasmas and the parts usually out-cost the replacement - get an LCD!!!!. The upper and lower Y boards and the sustain boards need to be replaced. At this point more than likely only your x sustain board is out part #996500039213 but in these cases where the power supply has gone out it is recommended that you replace the Y sustain board as well part #996500039212. We recommend that you have a Authorized technician replace these parts because of the voltage adjustments necessary needed to restore the picture to optimal viewing. These parts are available for purchase at Vance Baldwin

My 50 inch philips plasma tv wont come on. all it does when you turn on the power is that the blue light comes on like usual and you hear a relay click and then a few seconds later you hear a relay clickin...

There are a few common gotchas for all plasma TVs:

Most commonly, a sustain board overheats and burns out; sometimes that prevents the TV from powering and sometimes it does not.
Unfortunately I don't know enough about your particular model to tell in which category it falls.

Second, the power board either breaks too (sometimes as a result of a sustain defection) or filter capacitors on it dry out and prevent the board from powering on properly. This, in turn, is detected by the protection circuits on the power board itself and treated as a short circuit, thus shutting down the board to prevent further damage.

In my experience 80% of the time the problem you describe is caused by burned ZSUS board and 20% are due to defect power board.

As I said earlier when a sustain burns out it sometimes takes down the power as well. Which is to say do not presume that just one board has gone bad.

One of these days I am planning to post a DIY troubleshooting guide for plasma TVs at my site http://www.coppelltvrepair.com .

It's easier than many people think.

For example in your case I'd try to power off the ZSUS board - the one on the right side of the TV when you watch from the back - and turn it on again. If it powers on then the problem is in the ZSUS board.

In fact, there are quite a few such guides circulating around the net.

The problem ,of course, is that it takes time to understand and apply them properly.

Unless you have a lot of time to kill or a desire to enter the field of TV repairs it's usually better to just pay off a good technician.

Developing the qualities to find a good specialist is a challenge well worth the time and will pay many times in life.

The same can not be said very safely for the qualities of repairing plasma TVs :-)
