Numark turntable records record AND sounds in the room
My new Numark TTUSB turntable records the record and the sounds in the room although there is no microphone attached anywhere to the system. I am downloading the tunes directly from the turntable to my iTunes library on my iMac G4 running 10.4.11 and using EZ Vinyl Converter software that came with the turntable.

Most good turntables will track with weights between 1.25 and 1.5 grams. Any more than that and you are putting alot of pressure on the needle. Experiment a bit and make sure that the needle tracks well and that the sound is good. The less weight you use, the longer the needle will last and the less wear on the record.
Open Preferences, Sound, your input should be USB Audio Codec (turntable).. make sure your output is NOT USB Audio Codec, rather, headphones (for external speakers plugged in there)... thats how i have mine set up...
I received an updated driver from Numark but that still did not solve my problem. It turned out to be some sort of incompatability with my USB 2 card. When I plugged the turntable into my old USB 1 slot, my computer recognized it immediately. The new Audacity and MixMeister programs that were sent as a fix from Numark are just burning programs and not drivers for the device. I can now convert my old vinyl with ease.
