Question about Hamilton Beach Hbp100n30als3 1. Cf Microwave Oven White

1 Answer

My Hamilton Beach Microwave won't heat up to cook anything.

One day the microwave beeped off and then beeped back on. I didn't think anything of it but once I tried to cook something it wouldn't heat up at all. It stays the same temp. and won't heat/cook anything. I tested it with putting a coffie cup full of cold water in there for a few minutes and still it did not heat up at all. Please help. We're lost without our Microwave.

SOURCE: Can I cook a stuffed

Hi,

The roaster oven will do just fine... just make sure to have enough liquids in there...

You cannot really go by the pound, but a 10 pounder will take about 4 hours a 15 about 6 and a 20 about 8, at 350... so that should give you a good idea...

SOURCE: I have a Hamilton Beach

maby it's the magnetron, i need more information, a good way to test the magnetron is to put a small HE-NE lamp in a glass filled with water (HE-NE lamps) are found in any radioshack (La source) store, if the lamp glowes orange it meens the magnetron is good, if it is not glowing then the magnetron is dead, (the magnetron is allmost the price of the oven) it could be a fuse but if you have to change the fuse replace it with the same type (normaly ceramic german type) NOT GLASS

Good luck!

Yes you do. If you look at the bottom of the unit you should find the model number. Goto the link below and download the manual for your unit. Should be listed under the Indoor grills option.

My microwave continues to run 2-3 seconds after cook time. It doesn't seem normal but it works fine otherwise

Microwaves are cheap, if you are worried replace it, With what i k now about electronic clocks I am willing to bet it's not a safety issue.

If you want to be sure you could measure the amount of current it is drawing from the outlet and compare this with the specifications on the back of the microwave. Either get a "kill-a-watt" device, a multimeter with a current probe, or if it draws less than ten amps according to the sticker on the back you could use a regular multimeter to measure the current by hooking it up in series. The "kill-a-watt" is a brand name for a device that plugs into the outlet and then you would plug the microwave into. It will measure the amount of electricity it uses and display it on a screen. This device or the current probe would be the safest as you don't touch the wires. Hooking up the multimeter in series requires splicing wires.

Tip

DANGER WARNING! Potential Hazard if your microwave was working and now doesn't...

If you have this model microwave and it was working fine, then one day it stopped heating items placed inside there are a handful of different issues that could be the problem. In my case it was intermittent, over a period of a few days it would sometimes work (heat) and sometimes not. NO MATTER if this is what your's is doing or if it stopped heating all together. If you decide to let it dry out, or not use it for a while to see if it was a one time occurrence, or whatever the reason, the first time you put something in and probably for the next 10 times at least (this assumes it starts to work again), make sure you are right there with it while it is cooking. Don't assume you can put something in, go do something and come back when the timer is beeping. There is a chance (as this happened to me) that your food inside will CATCH FIRE! Normal food item placed inside, no metal, nothing different than the numerous times before when this had been cooked but when we smelled smoke we came running. Fortunately it started and finished inside the microwave but that's not a guarantee, it could spread. Play it safe. Never had a problem like this before and never heard of a microwave cooking something until it caught on fire (especially since the time entered for the cook was 30 seconds) but it did.

It stopped working with a sign in the LED that says ( se )

-SE- error means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

You can buy the part for about 20 dollars off kenmore website. I wouldn't recommend leaving it plugged in. If you're able to still microwave things I wouldn't go far while something is cooking.

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

NOTE: If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or at least leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

On this model (
KHMS155LSS3), the membrane keypad comes on the complete control panel frame assembly.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

It is part number 8205018 and you can get it from the Pros here for $108.80.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man.
Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.
