Furnace keeps tripping circuit break

Starting some time today my furnace began to trip the circuit breaker.....it runs for about 5-10 minutes then the circuit pops.....

i can reset the circuit and it works fine for about 5-10 minutes again until it pops again....

is this a problem with the furnace? or the circuit overheating?

Furnace. To confirm use an Ampprobe or other brand ampmeter and see how much current is being drawn. If it is more that 80% of the breaker rating, it si for sure the Furnace.

DO NOT install a 20 amp breaker, you can cause a fire. The breaker is rated for the WIRES, and unless you change out the wires, the 15 amp wires will overheat and can cause a fire.
Typically, A/C units need dedicated power, with nothing else on that circuit.
One step that you may try is a new 15 amp breaker. Once a breaker starts tripping, is starts tripping earlier....
You may wind up running a new circuit for the A/C, if you do, size it for the A/C.

I just had this model furnace fa4c insatlled about a month ago and it keeps cutting off. I found its tripping the circuit breaker. What can cause this.

realy only one major cause that I can think of short of the transformer intermitantly shorting out would be the Blower motor is causing your breaker to trip.....Have the motor checked out by doing an amp draw using an amp meter to determin starting amp and running amps....may be as simple as a start capacitor...Good luck.

THERMOSTAT HAS NO POWER

Hi, yes the thermostat feed does come off the furnace from the transformer. That's where it gets it 24 volt supply, 120 volts is stepped down to 24 volts for the controls. If it trips the main breaker, it may be a matter of the wires that feed the breaker are loose and this will cause the breaker to over heat and trip. Shut it off and tighten the wires. The breaker may also be weak. This is a high voltage problem. So, anything that runs off of this breaker can cause it to trip, like the blower motor may be drawing to much amperage. Make sure there is no lint build up on the motor or in the windings or on the blower wheel also. My guess would be the breaker is burned or wires are loose creating enough heat to trip it at times. This is where you will need to start. Keep me posted. If you have a amprobe you can check the rated amps on the data plate of all motors and see what they are drawing under a load. If not, you will have to see whats getting hot, breaker, motors ect. Keep me updated as you will be able to find the problem. Like I said, my bet would be the breaker is going. You can also kill power and pull the breaker to look for any hot or burned spots on it. Concentrate there first.
Best of luck, you should find it quickly.

Gas Furnace not working trips breaker

Does it trip the breaker when the safety switch is NOT pressed? I am trying to isolate where to look for the short circuit. Is it before the furnace, or after the furnace. If the breaker trips with the safety switch not depressed, the problem is not the furnace, and could be where power enters the furnace, or further upstream from the furnace.

Hitachi RAS09UH randomly pops 15A circuit breaker

Two things that you could check: 1) If you have access to an ampmeter, determine if the unit is drawing over over 14 or 15 amps, 2) replace the suspect circuit breaker in case it is beginning to go bad. Breakers only trip for overcurrent conditions or failure of the breaker itself. If it is pulling close to 15 amps, then it could heat up over time and trip.

Tripping circuit breaker

You probably have a dirty condenser coil or the con den ser fan motor is bad or the blades are jam that's why it overheat and shut off by overload.
