Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
Tried everything how Bonnie?
Anyhoo, if it was through Device Manager, I'm not surprised. Hardly ever works. (But seems to be recommended by every 'IT' man, lol!)
Did you download AND install the audio driver? (Audio = Sound)
A lot of people think they can just download, and that's it.
1) The Product Number
This is in the white Service Tag, on the bottom of the laptop.
P/N = Product Number
2) Operating System.
What version of Windows is it? XP, or Vista?
(Has Windows 7 been installed?)
Once I have this information we'll get crackin'.
Battery is getting hot? How about the rest of the laptop, or close to the battery?
Having any problems with the graphics on the monitor screen?
Not to make your heart sink, but the HP Pavilion dv2000 series, Pavilion dv6000 series, and Pavilion dv9000 series; has a problem with inadequate cooling for the graphics chipset.

SOURCE: my hp laptop gets v hot.
Over heating isnt normal and you shouldnt be happening. Take some compressed air and while the laptop is off, blow out dust from any of the exhaust vents and fans.
You can also buy a laptop cooler. Most computer stores have them, they are flat and the laptop sits on top of it. They usually have two fans that circulate the air out from under it.
I have seen some that are USB powered and are about $30
Remember, when using a laptop, they should be placed o a flat hard surface,
Try this out if you want. Other than that, theres not much you can do if the laptop is over heating. It shouldnt do that and is most likeley a hardware deffect.
