Hp HDX 16. I had a power problem which turned out to be the motherboard, replaced it, the conputer worked fine for a couple days then I just closed the lid and now it won't power on. When I push the power button everything lights up for a second or two than shuts off. I tried a hard reset and reseating the ram and hard drive. please help

You should have a long talk with yourself about the pros and cons of disassembling and reassembling a laptop. Sorry,

You know how to follow a circuit using a multimeter. Maybe just miss a connection, or you had multiple failures , Power on , few seconds, shuts down, sounds like a PSU. You don't even get to pre boot, right?

Is the CMOS battery good? I'm sure, with your background, used a ESD protection ?

How do I unfreeze my kindle fire HDX?

Press and hold the power button for twenty seconds or so, ignoring any "Shut down?" prompts, until it turns off. Release the power button, then press and hold for a couple of seconds until the unit begins to reboot.

Can't Find Wireless Button

need more information. What is the model of the laptop. It will either be on the sides of the laptop, or it will be on the keyboard with the FN key. If it is an hp like hp hdx 16 or dell m1330 it will be on the power board thingy.

Check ebay as there are sellers that will sell you a single key sparing the trouble and expense of replacing the whole keyboard. They will come with detailed instructions.

I feel for you. HP makes a crummy product. That is why I never sell them anymore. Plus, as I do some warranty work for them, I get to see the problems up close. Their tech support usually sucks as well.

Hy hp d530 won't turn on

Hello,

I have a similar problem:

My Compaq d530 was running fine until one day during plugging in a USB device (MP3 player) the system completely stopped working. The only thing which is active is the green LED on the mainboard.

I have checked several things and have found the following:
- IDE cable had burn marks!! (nasty)
- USB connection cable which runs from the front to the motherboard has changed in color. (darker green while all other connector have e more light white color.)

These are the signs of a brun out, but I do not have any solution to repair this.

Economically the best thing to do is buy a second hand (or new) system. (d530 are about 60 euros these days (march 2009). Hardware parts can maybe salvaged.

My hp ze4300 will not turn on

Has there been a power surge meanwhile? If so, try unplugging the power cord, press the power button, reconnect power and try booting. Sometimes works.
