Question about Radio Communications
If the batteries are not fully charged - or if the batteries are old an no longer capable of accepting a full charge - they may not be able to provide enough power to operate the transmitter, an shut off. If your radio supports hi / lo power settings, try switching to lo. Receiving requires much less power than transmitting, so you may not realize that the batteries need to be recharged / replaced until you transmit.

You will find the manual here. The radio is part of the 280 series radios, so there is a general manual on all in that series.

The symbol you are describing indicates you have the radio on HI power. It will not go away unless you reprogram the radio to LOW power, or change to a low power channel.
