Question about Refrigerators

Water flows into ice maker when water lever is pushed

I recently replaced the water inlet valve 2206123 because the icemaker water ramp was freezing up. After I Installed the new inlet valve, the icemaker works GREAT, but now when i press the in-door water lever, water flows into the ice maker, which overflows if I don't stop. I was told I got a bad valve, so I got a new one, installed it and the same thing is happening.

Be sure that you have the water inlet valve wired correctly.

Well I unplugged the old valve and plugged in the new one. I didn't mess with the wiring and the three plugs are color coded and different sizes, so as not to mix them up. So I don't know how the wiring could have got messed up.

SOURCE: Ice maker overflows

The Icemaker may not be dumping the cubes after they freeze then more water pours in on top of them. The icemaker has a heater which turns the cubes loose and allows them to dump. You may find someone to work on an icemaker, not sure. If this is the case, I would replace the icemaker.

Icemaker not making ice cubes.

Amana SXD22S2W refrigerators are made by Whirlpool and what you have happening is common with a couple possibilities. Most likely the W10245167 Water Inlet Valve is not shutting off after the fill time of about 7.5 seconds. If this is happening the water will slowly fill the ice maker tray above the lever that it should and causes the ice to connect together on the top thus not allowing the cubes to be harvested because they are basically welded together as a whole piece. And the other possibility is the ice maker itself is needing an adjustment of the water flow time. Below I will post a Icemaker Repair video telling how to adjust the time and other things to look for. This is possible but most times not always the case. Adjusting the flow time is delicate and a little change can cause too much or not enough water. Lets watch the icemaker a little closer and see if there is ice freezing up in the fill tube behind the ice maker. You have seen the leaky faucets before and an old W10245167 Water Inlet Valve can do just that making a mess inside your freezer and ice maker if leaking. I recently replaced my water filter on my Kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator, model KSCS251, and since then my icemaker no longer makes ice, nor do I hear any water flow into it. The water, however, does...

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It's on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips

Icemaker not working

The ice maker valve is a dual one. with 2 solenoids. One solenoid operates the water and the other the ice maker. So if the water works that don't mean the ice maker supply is ok. The ice maker itself controls the flow of water. So if the water valve is ok then the ice maker is faulty. I have repair photos HERE

My freezer compartment is making a loud vibrating noise. The ice maker is not working, the water freezes on the inlet ramp to the cube maker. What gives?

The vibration is usually an unballance, check the freezer fan blade for any broken pieces. The water freeze will cause the Ice maker to not work..if the fill valve for the ice maker leaks, even a small bit it will freeze up on that "inlet ramp" if so, replace the fill valve. Else, I've found a unit not used, left alone for a week or more.. that tube still freezes up...gets too cold?

The ice maker does not make ice anymore

There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.
thanks.

Hi, Yes you can. When the icemaker cycles, do you hear the inlet valve buzzing? If you blew through the line that goes from the inlet valve to the icemaker and it is open, sounds like the inlet valve is bad.
