DON'T TRY TO FIX THIS YOURSELF! You will only add to the damage. If your lens is in warranty, contact Nikon for instructions to get it repaired. If it is out of warranty, I would either pay Nikon for the repair or take it to a camera repair man.

SOURCE: Camera dropped an the lens broke off the camera

I have the same problem - the plastic bayonet lugs are the weak point on the lens assembly, but better that then breaking the camera body mating ring. I've dissasembled the rear of the lens and will try to reglue the two split lugs with cyanoacrylate glue. Be very careful not to mix up the 3 different types of screws, avoid damage to the multi-contact plate ribbon cable, and to not to loose the backfocus shims! Cheers.

I dropped my slr camera and now the lens wont attach back on

Most likely. If the lens is from a major camera manufacturer, take it to an authorized repair shop and they can replace the mount. If it's a third-party lens then it may be more difficult.

If you want to do the replacement yourself, you may be able to find the appropriate part here. Since you declined to specify the make and model of the lens I'm afraid I can't tell you whether they have it or not, so you'll have to look yourself.

Dropped my d90. Everything works fine its just the lense wont attach to the mount, I can attach it and it works but unless I am holding onto the lens it just unattaches from the camera

I assume you mean a Nikon D90, not a Canon?

It seems like you've broken the mount on the back of the lens. It should have three flanges. Compare it to the back of another lens. If the mount is broken, you'll need to have it replaced.

If you think you can do the replacement yourself, you may be able to order the part from
http://uscamera.com/nikonlens.htm
I can't give you a specific answer since you didn't specify the lens in question.

Otherwise take the lens to a good camera shop and have a trained professional do the replacement.

It seems like you've got a broken lens mount on the 18-105mm. Take a look at the backs of the two lenses. You should see the bayonet mount with three flanges. If one or more of the flanges on the 18-105mm are broken then the lens won't stay on.

If you feel up to doing the replacement yourself, you can order the part from
http://uscamera.com/1c999-729.htm
Otherwise have a trained technician replace the mount.

Mount broke won't attach to camera, where can I get replacement part?

dolphindaddy,
I have the same problem. (I call it a broken rear lens plate.)

I purchased the Nikon for this same size. However, I like the Sigma lens so much more. I can hardly wait to get it back onto my camera.

My lens is cracked on my flip cam, how do i fix it?

They aren't too hard to open up and take apart. There's a glass piece the covers the actual lens and I'm guessing that is what broke. Once the flip is in pieces you can remove the glass piece and it will operate fine without it. If you want to replace it, you can either get a broken flip and use it for parts, but there's a pretty sticky, tough ring of tape holding that glass piece in place. You could also try a very clear piece of plexiglass and cut it to size. Haven't tried that one myself, but it may work.

That was a very sad thing to happen. There is no quick fix solution for this. You should take it to an authorized service center. But I fear this is not going to be an inexpensive process. Let them have a look and assess the damages. We have no way of judging what could have happened inside--whether there has been any misalignment of elements or focusing mechanism.

Broken locking ring on Quantaray 28-90mm. 1:3.5-5.6

Hey Quiltzlady,
If you were an authorized service technician you could probably order this part from the manufacturer, and if this camera is really only $90 to purchase new it is very likely the cost of the repair would not be worth doing. The suggestion to super glue the ring back together might work but I would try epoxy being that it is a lot stronger, but remember you run the risk of rendering the lens inoperable when you involve glue with something that relies on moving parts to operate properly. Another suggestion is to find the same lens, but broken, for sale that this ring is not broken on, and use that lens as a parts lens I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Allan
