Take a digital camera, or a camera phone, and get it ready to take a picture, point your remote at the screen, so you can see it in the camers, hit the input button, you will see the infa red lights flash on the remote through the screen, if you see it , then your main board in the tv isnt reading it, if you dont see it flash, there is a problem with that button on the remote, there should be an input button on the tv

Does this remote have input function?

Remote controls can be fixed or Programable.
Programable means that you can enter the code required to flick through the INPUT functions.
A good Programable Remote can be used for several devices.
I use a Sony Commander and I can replace several remote controls with it.
Good Luck

When i press the input button on my universal remote nothing happens

There are several codes for the same brand of TV. Make certain you have the perfect code to control all functions for your model, and be sure to change the remote to "TV" before pressing input button.

I cant figure out how to put the tv on video 1

With the remote in TV mode, the input button on the remote should change the source (TV, AV1, etc. depending on the TV).

If the input button doesn't work, try a different code for your TV manufacturer. A code that controls the basic functions of the remote may not control the full set of functions of the TV. For some TVs, you can change the source from within the Menu. (It depends on the TV. I didn't notice if there was a Menu button that will open the TV menu on the RCA RCU600M.)

If none of the codes work, check if your TV has a Source or Input button on the unit. See if that button works.

If you have a different remote, please indicate the model.

I hope this helps.

I have an 20.0 IR EchoStar Technologies L.L.C 155681. For some reason the input button is not working. Whenever I press the TV button and press input it doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Our remotes may not carry all of the normal functions your factory remote would. The remote you have is capable of learning additional functions, the link below will open a tutorial guide for this: www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/FileStream.ashx?ID=678

My Sony remote is RM-YD024 - I am trying to find the code for a Denon DVD player, Norm.

Here are all the codes for your Denon DVD player.

30490, 30634, 31634

Just in case you don't have the manual I also included the steps to input the codes.
Hope this helps

Follow these steps to program the remote control.
NOTE: Even though the FUNCTION buttons are labeled for specific components, they can be programmed to operate any type of equipment that is compatible with this remote control. For example, the BD/DVD function can be programmed to operate a VCR, AV receiver, etc.
  1. Turn on the component to be programmed.
  2. On the remote control, press and hold the INPUT button.
  3. While holding INPUT button, press the FUNCTION button for the desired component.
  4. Release both buttons.
  5. NOTE: The FUNCTION button will blink for approximately 30 seconds or until a code is entered.
  6. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
  7. NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, enter one code at a time until you find one that works.
  8. Press the ENT button.
  9. NOTE: The FUNCTION will blink twice if the programming is successful, if not, it will blink five times.
  10. Point the remote control at the component.
  11. Press the component POWER button to verify operation.
NOTES:
  • If a new code number is entered, the code number previously entered will be erased.
  • When the batteries are replaced, the programmed codes may be erased. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote after replacing the batteries.
  • Some product functions may not be able to be controlled by the remote control. Use the remote control provided with the component.
  • In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your non-Sony equipment with the supplied remote control. This is because your equipment may use a code that is not provided with this remote control. In this case, use the remote control that was provided with the equipment or purchase a universal remote control that has a learning function.
  • If programming fails, it may be necessary to reset the remote control. To reset the remote control, remove the batteries and press each button on the remote control twice.

New remote won't program to switch to cable input.

That's a problem with universal remote controls. Often they don't control every function of the TV. They just don't have the buttons needed to control everything the original remote did. You'll have the most basic controls - power, channel and volume up and down - and maybe a menu button. But you'll frequently find other things don't work, like switching inputs. There isn't anything you can do except try all the codes for your TV brand and see what each button does. You might find that the buttons have different functions depending on which code you've entered. You might also look for another brand of universal remote that has more functions available.

Go to www.remotes.com and they will tell you in most cases how to revive your old remote! or order an orignal (which you may have to do to change the function!) tv remote for your model!
