I actually don't think this is a problem because I got a new copy from a friend after trying my own cd over the same problem, it's bringing different errors every time i try to install. I have tried again and it now says File \i386\KDCOM.DLL could not be loaded, the error code is 8192. Setup cannot continue, press any key to exit. What can be the problem?

I believe the keyword here is SATA. Take a look at what Microsoft has to say about this.

Hi, clean the disc with a smooth cloth, reboot from disc again. Make sure you have set your boot sequence to cd, floppy, hdd. If it still not work, there's an error while you were copying your friend's disc that some of the files from i386 folder of the operating system were not copied successfully that is why they're not found now. It acted like you have copied it successfully but it weren't. You should use PowerISO Tool for that. It will copy all the source files from the disc and will make your Operating System disc copy be completely bootable. You can download poweriso tool in the net or Nero also has a tool for that to make your cd bootable.

You need a new xp pro disc. the reason the file failed to load was probably because there is a scratch or smuge on the disc.

Try booting from your Optical Drive. First insert your Windows XP Pro CD into the drive. Do not re-install the operqating system or you will lose all your files and programs! When prompted press 'R' to use the Recovery Console. You should be able to write a new boot sector to your hard drive.

If this doesn't solve the problem, you might need to re-install the operating system. If you can find a way to save all your files from your drive (perhaps by putting your drive in an external USB caddy and viewing its contents on a different computer).

If all else fails get a new hard drive and start again with your WIndows XP Pro CD. Use an external 2.5" USB caddy afterwards to get your documents and files back off your old disk. You will need to re-install your programs, though. If your disk is Service Pack 3 you should be able to get straight back on the internet via a wireless connection to update all your drivers from hp's website.

Boot flash drive

Hi,

Download the HP Format Tool and install it. Get your boot disk or the downloadable files and copy/extract them to a folder on your HD. Make sure anything on your USB Drive is backed up because we are going to format it...

Open the HP Format Tool
Start/Programs/Hewlett-Packard Company/HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
It should automatically select your USB Drive.
Select FAT or FAT32 Under File System.
Select Create a DOS startup disk
Select using DOS system files located at and point to the folder containing the boot disk files.
Then click Start

Or you can download Win to flash ,follow the bellow link for details,
For Windows xp

HP NC6320 - drive not detected or found during OS install

That is a possibility that it has a data protection. Try this http://www.ptdd.com/manual2.htm download the super FDisk and burn the ISO to a DVD. then boot off of it and delete all partitons on your HDD that way it will be erased so you can start over new. You might be able to do this on HPs boot disk too. Unfortunately you cannot update the HDD firmware after the drive has no OS on it. In this case you need an outside tool to totally erase the HDD so the install can see it again.

HP Compaq nc6320 pc notebook issue

Hello,
it seems that its a not a problem with your hard disk at it load on to the windows succesfully. Chances are any one of these :-
1. Some one might have changed the user name or password.
2. The file that holds the password might be corrupted.
3.If you are using a network based login, ask your administrator for assistance.

The better solution is to Repair install or Re-Install the operating system...
( U might Lose your Data while doing it but not all the time)

Same problem in HP dv6040ca

Firstly, the system configuration is normally in management menu or similair on your programmes menu. If not you will find that the bios menu in most laptops are basic and normally the main settings are hidden; you will need to speak to HP Technical for assistance in that. There is no reason to not be able to upgrade to XP Pro; but with an upgrade you would need to keep your original XP Home installation, otherwise you will need to completely install XP Pro firsly using the format option when you insert the Windows disc. As with most laptops all programmes and drivers are usually on a seperate partition on your hardrive, so be aware you are going to lose all this when formatting, so back up all files and settings. You may also have restore discs, if this being the case all programmes and operating system will be on them, so no need to worry about losing anything from your hardrive apart from your documents. Why do you need to dissable SATA?

Can't reinstall xp pro on my hp compaq nc6320

Stephane, I ran into the same problem after wiping out my Compaq nc6320 and trying to install XP Pro. The fix is to disable SATA Native mode. To do this: Enter F10 Setup then System Configuration>Device Configurations>SATA Native Mode and disable it, save the changes and now you should be able to install XP Pro. Remember, when I did this the drive was blank, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Best of luck! Bryan P.S. If you want to enable SATA native mode after you have installed XP Pro check out this link: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1042050&admit=-682735245+1161793137260+28353475
