Question about Pioneer Elite PRO-1140HD 50 in. Plasma HDTV
I have a Pioneer elite TV that is about 6 years old. Its has been showing pixels at the top of the screen most of the time but not always. I am worried that we are going have to replace it. Can plasmas be fixed and what do you think the problem is?
There may be a failure starting in the matrix drive board, or in the display itself. The area of failure can be verified with proper troubleshooting by swapping modules. These sets are mainly serviced by swapping modules, and then calibrating as required.
Considering the age of the set parts and modules may be difficult to find. Also, these sets are fairly expensive to service. Because of the age of the set reliability will be low even after service.
I would be seriously considering that it is time to start shopping for a new set when the fault becomes intolerable.
