SOURCE: Porta Band saw blade jumps off

I had this problem on a used model 725 that I bought. Apparently the rubber tires on the drive wheels develop a bit of a memory after sitting for a while with tension on the blade. I tried cleaning the tires to no avail. Then I removed both tires, flipped them over and re-installed. Still not fixed. Then I put only one back to the original position and the problem was solved. Other than the frustration of trying several times, I was out nothing and I got quite proficient at taking the blade in and out. The saw has worked fine ever since. I hope this simple (and free) solution works for you.

Band saw blade keeps coming off

Set up your band saw properly. There are several reason why band saw blade keeps on coming off on the wheels: loose/wear tire, improper guide adjustment, incorrect tension, over feeding wood stock or the problem could be on the blade itself. Try to change your blade, I got my band saw blades on sawblade.com . I suggest you watch band saw tune up tutorial videos on youtube. Hope that helps.

Band saw is going in reverse how to i fix that

The motor is AC (alternating current) and only runs in one direction. Therefore, the only way to reverse the saw blade direction is to flip the position of the motor 180 degrees. The teeth of the blade should be pointing down and face to the left when you are standing in front of the saw. The blade should travel down into the table so the blade pushes the work into the table. I hope this helps since it sounds like the blade may be installed incorrectly.

Saw blade jumpes off at motor pulley on horizontal band saw

It is probably not tracking. you need to back off the guides, get the blade to track in the center of the tire by hand. Then torque it up a bit till it twangs, Then pull the guides up the blade and just touch it, don't push it at all, the bearings too. This should track and not jump off. If it does, then one of your wheels is out of whack, check them with a straight edge with the blade set. See if they are in line. One of the bearings could be bad. Check it out.

Blade comes off wheel on horizontal saw have a wilton 7040 horizontal saw. after cutting about 1/2 thrru a piece of metal the blade sticks and then stars comming off the right wheel and starts cutting into...

if its a new blade, make sure that it is the proper length for the saw, sometimes aftermarket blades look like they are the right size but the difference of a few mm can cause the blade to track. if its an old blade, it could just be dull enough that it is binding on the material you are cutting and this draws the blade off the wheels. even if the blade isnt that old or seems sharp, if you have a brand new blade handy that would be the easiest thing to try.

your manual will have instructions on how to adjust the blade guide bearings. if this is a new saw, it SHOULD be set properly and be working from the factory but they may still need to be adjusted. an older saw obviously may have shifted a bit from normal usage. if you dont have a manual one can be downloaded from the wilton tools website.

before adjusting the guides, though, check to see that the bearings spin freely. if they do not spin smoothly with minimum pressure, they need to be replaced. they also should be replaced if they spin VERY freely because this is also an indication that they are pretty worn and may actually be binding up under pressure.
