Dryers don't have a capacitor they use a cent switch to get going. When you press start you energize the cent sitch in the motor. When it gets full blast weights mounted inside move the cent switch and release the power from the start wire to the run wire inside the motor. Why does it do it? 2 windings kick it into gear one drops out when she gets up to speed. Clever aint it?

No Heat. Roper gas dryer model # RGX3514PQ0.

Hay Bud, you have an excellent excuse to buy a multimeter congratulations.. when you do, access the burner assembly and controller circuit board, on your disassembley you will likely find a wiring diagram, this will be very helpful in diagnosing your fault, let me know when you have the meter and the diagram and i will step you through the diagnostic proses.

Whirlpool/roper dryer won't start hear hum noise but doesn't start

open the back where you can see the mechanical parts (motor / belt / drum / capacitor)

1. unplug the unit, see if you can manually turn the motor head

If not , then the problem is the Bushing or bearing

If yes, then your starting capacitor ( Small aluminum type like a can with wires on top) change it.

check also the belt if it is correctly aligned.

Dryer used to overheat and shut down. was hard to restart, had to hold start button down. now will not start

Possibly bad capacitor on the motor. A bad motor can "mimic" a bad capacitor also. Without a capacitor tester, install a new capacitor, it's easy and cheaper than a new motor. Good luck!
