There are 6 or 7 phillips head screws that keep the top on; remove them and pop the top. This will give you access to all CD's. Remove them all, then plug the unit back in and press the open close button and check for normal operation. If it still wont open, it's broken a gear and needs to be serviced. You may consider replacement of the unit if inoperative, the replacement model is priced at $129.00 and a repair would probably cost the same if not more. The fault is with its optical pickup unit. Insert a lens cleaning disc into the player and play it for at least two times. This must rectify the the problem if the fault is with dust of dirt. If not, replace the optical pickup unit.
