My lemax Starburst is not turning on the front color leds on the wheel.
When turn on, the wheel start to run. Lights on the back turns on, but the front leds on the wheel are not turning on. By pushing the front of the wheel, it turns on, but as soon it is released, lights turn off.

No,the tv colors wheel it is also dead or lose connections somewhere, because there no movement at all and all the LEDS indication lights are flashing and not giving power voltage to the tv colors wheel part at all.
If the color wheel doesn't spin, the lamp will not fire. The lamp has a gap in it, it will read open. Pull the rear cover off trip the door switch and look close and listen. Double check that the color wheel does not spin up (turn on, then wait 5 secounds or so.. pull the power cord and listen for it to stop.. best method). Also, watch the lamp driver.. there is a condensor coil on there that will lite up when it is sending the ignition pulse to the lamp... do you see it? If so, it's the lamp.
Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.
Color Wheel, CK all Fans make sure they are running
defective Lamp Fan will shut set down, Pull Lamp out Look inside where Lamp plugs in see if Color Wheel is Turning. Encompass Parts Distrubtion has Parts for this TV 1-800-638-3328 or Just Go to their website.
That's probably the Color Wheel you are hearing. When you turn the set on the color wheel has to run, one of the several things that has to happen for the set to come on. The color wheel sends a signal back to the control circuit to tell it it's running. If these sets fail to light the lamp they will shut off and try again, that's why you hear the color wheel start then wind down then start again. The set should try three times before it decides it's not going to be able to turn on.
One way you can tell the difference in the fan sound and color wheel sound is if you can get the set on, let it run for a little while so it gets warm, then when you turn it off the color wheel will start winding down but the fans will continue to run for a minute or two.
Sounds like your color wheel may be at fault. Do you ever hear any unusual noises coming from the rear of the TV? Color Wheels usually make a humming sound as they go bad. This is because the tiny bearings in the color wheel motor have begun to misshape from use and heat. This is a known issue in this TV! Expect to spend $300-500 to have this serviced by a service company. If you have the right stuff, you can do it yourself. If you search the web, you'll find a color wheel for this TV for under $100, but installation can be tricky.
