Question about Dell Alienware Computers & Internet
I used to get resolution of 1600x900 .. Now I am only getting 1024x768. When I go to change the resolution it shows that I can only go to 1024x768. I am supposed to have two video cards one is when I am using battery and an NVIDIA card. However, I can no longer seem to FIND that NVIDIA card. I also am getting told that there was a change in my hardware and that my windows Experience Index needs to be reassessed. When I try and do this I am being told it cannot be done due to an "error from the operating system, driver or other component." I believe this is all related to the missing NVIDIA card and the lowered resolution
Have you tried removing the card and replacing it in a different slot which should get the computer to automatically find the card and the right drivers.

I had the same problem you described as small screen in the middle with black border around it. The only resolution that made the screen fill the LCD panel was 1024 x 768. THAT IS WRONG!!!

It's a hardware problem, Code 43,
A device driver notified the operating system that the device failed.
According to the code, or according to as I understand it, it should be a hardware problem, but I think that it is a software problem
try downloading these drivers, http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_180.84_beta.html
check this out as well
But if it is a hardware problem, then you might try the following steps
"turn off computer, open the case, and clean it inside, using compressed air.
Remove video card, hold fans blades with a chopstick, or a pencil, and give the fan a nice cleaning, as well.
Clean video card connectors with an eraser. Put it back.
I hope that helps
