My 6 month old just pulled off two of the keys while "typing". I came here for the solution. After looking at the underside of the key for a moment, realized the bottom half slides into place. So I put my finger on the bottom half of the key first, slide up and down a couple times. The important part is to click the top part of the key in place last, by pushing down firmly. And vhah-la!

Most of the time the keys are a pain to replace and if you do get it back on it is more prone to pop off again. If the computer is under warranty I would contact Acer and get the keyboard replaced. If not then search online especially Ebay for a replacement keyboard. Usually pretty cheap.

My cat stepped on the keyboard and the screen went black, I don ot know what keys she pressed

try rebooting the computer and as soon as it begins to start up (before the windows screen shows) tap repeatedly on the "F8" key on the top of your keyboard. when a boot menu appears choose "safe mode" when the computer loads you will have the window default settings and you should see your screen. If this works simply reboot the computer and it will load to normal mode. If this does not work let me know and I will attempt to help you further

Screen went almost dark after cat walked across keyboard

Laptop keyboards have a function key that changes the brightness level. You access this by using the FN key on the bottom of the keyboard along with the brightness level, possibly the F8 key. There should be icons on the 'F' keys to show which key will increase the brightness on the display.

I hope you find this information helpful.

How to unlock a laptop keyboard

You can manually test which mode the keyboard is set to and change its configuration by following the steps below.
  1. Open a word processing program and type the word jump on the notebook's keyboard.
  2. If the word displays as jump , then the keyboard is set to its default mode. If the word displays as 140* , then the keyboard has been set to a number pad configuration.
  3. To switch modes, press Fn + Num Lock . (Fn key is next to Ctrl key on the left)
  4. Type jump again to confirm that the keyboard configuration has been reset.
The keyboard's configuration has been successfully reset.

I have two keys that have come off. can anyone tell me how to put the back on

I've had the same thing happen when my cat clawed them off of my Dell. If you center the key above the spot and press until it clicks, that should do the trick.

I've noticed though, those keys are now prone to pop off again. So if that happens, use some super glue and just put a small dab in the very center and press back on.

Here's my video of my cat and the keyboard. He likes to sit on the keyboard and pry them off.

If the plastic hinges and the tiny rubber press contact are still on the keyboard, you can align the key over the plastic hinge and press firmly down until you hear the key click back in place.
OR
You can purchase a replacement keyboard from several companies on the Internet. I purchased one from Yall Store - Use this link

OR
You can use a full size USB keyboard and plug it into the laptop's USB port.

Letter keys are stuck on numbers don't know how to change them bo

Hold the "Fn" key down while pressing "F9" key, subtitled "Padlock" (!!) - is equivalent to NUM LOCK nomenclature used on most computers. Note - Repeating above resets number pad to ON.

If that doesn't work for you something is malfunctioning as far as I know.
