Refrigerator will quit

check the freezer evaporator thermistor on the top left corner clipped to the evaporator,if its not 16k ohm when at 32 degrees in a glass of ice water after 4 minutes it will defrost too many times and cause this issue,you need to unplug the J1 connector on the mother board in the rear behind the cover and check terminals 4 & 5 un the plug,not on the board though

If your GE model number is PSS26LSR then I would bet that you refrigerator is showing signs of a WR55X10942 Motherboard

You also could have a condenser fan stopping and/or motherboard failure. On the back of the PSS26LSR there is a panel with the WR55X10942 Motherboard recessed in the back wall of the refrigerator.Can you unplug the power to the refrigerator and examine the board for swollen capacitors or burn marks? Sometimes the board will show no signs of being defective and still be the cause of why WR55X10942 Motherboard Either way I will be here to help you do this yourself if you like. Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

you can as long as you remove all the food and clean it good and and leave the doors open so no mold grows inside it.make sure you defrost the freezer so no ice will melt and cause water damage.

I would tell them to come pick up their hunk of garbage. Having a company tell you that everything is running fine when your refrigerator is full of rotting food is past my point of warranty repair. I would no longer have trust in the fridge or the brand and would ask for a refund or a replacement. How old is this fridge?

If it only occurs occasionally and cooling is no issue, then what is happening is by design.
That's the frost that melts during a defrost cycle and is hitting the heater which gets quite hot during that period.

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running.If no check starter/overload relay. Remove the cardboard backing from the back bottom to access the compressor area.

The clicking sound is from a bad start relay on the compressor or a bad compressor.
Replace the start relay. It is relatively inexpensive.
If that does not correct the problem the compressor will have to be replaced.
