Question about Sony MHC-MG110 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Sony Mini Hi-Fi MHC-MG110 no longer chooses CDs at random

This 60-CD unit has a play mode called "All Disc Shuffle". When set on this mode the unit should choose a CD at random, then choose a song on that CD at random. Instead, during a short listening session, the unit, now a few years old, goes back and plays several songs already played during the same listening session. What is the source of the problem, and what can be done about it?

Unplug the power for a while and load all CDs. It could solve the playing old paylist.

What means shuf

That's short for "shuffle". In shuffle play, the player randomly picks a track from the CD to play, so you don't know which one is coming up next. On some Sony models with multiple-CD players, shuffling also randomly picks one of the discs as well as a random track. I don't know if yours is one of them, though.

Sony Mini - Hi Fi MHC - EC55 won't play CD's. Says it is "Reading" then says "No Disk". I have used lens cleaner and reset factory settings. Any ideas

If you've already tried to clean the lens then with no improvement then its down to the laser having failed.

In some cases these are availble as a replacement part but aren't normally cost effective.

I cannot get the CD disc doors to open or close. There are no discs in there, as I remember. The radio and cassettes both are operable but I can play CDs. I love this unit, even though it is old,...

Sounds like you've got a problem with either the Drive Motor, Drive Controller or Drive Belt.

It could be an easy fix but it depends on the where the fault is.

Does it make any noise or effort to open the doors?

DVD display indicates "no disc"

Try a lens cleaner cd, as when the lens gets misaligned or if it's quite old, it will find it harder to read a DVD as the tracks are much closer together than that of a VCD as they are cd's and their tracks are wider apart and easier to read.
