First, 68.5 khz -85hz means horizontal raster frequency of source signal is at 68.5 kilohertz and repeats vertically at 85 hertz. (hertz means "cycles per second). the sony monitor cannot "read" the signal being sent from the pc. change the screen resolution to a lower number like 75 or 70 hertz vertical.

I have a LG Flatron EW224 computer monitor. It was working great but one day the screen went blank and reads in the center of screen: D-Sub out of range 68.5Khz/85Hz. Does anyone know how to correct this...

This is usually due to your computer Video resolution being set to a setting out of the supported range of your monitor, Lowering the computer video resolution should solve this issue.

Out of range 64.0 KHz / 60 HZ

It might be because of wrong screen resolution. This problem can occur because of hardware as well as software change.

To rectify this issue you will have to set your screen resolution to lowest visual settings. For this purpose you can try restarting your PC to safe mode and then modify your screen resolution.

Sometimes setting your monitor to factory defaults can also rectify this issue.

It appears the operating system you are using is set to output video at a frequency that is not compatible with your monitor. If you have another monitor available you should connect it to the computer and change your display settings to output at a rate (Hz) of 50 or 60. If you could let me know what operating system you're using I can help you a little further.

I have upto now been using my lg Flatron L1919S monitor as a tv with a separate tuner. Today i replaced it with an lcd tv and was going to use the monitor for my computer. However when i connected it up...

It means your PC video resolution is too high for the monitor to display, you need to set your PC video to the native resolution of this monitor, 1280 x 1024 @60Hz.
Start up in sfae mode (hit f8 while booting up), select VGA support, then right click on desk top/properties to bring up display property/setting. set the new resolution , reboot.

It means your PC video output resolution is too high for the LG monitor to display (your old monitor (CRT) can handle higher resolution than this LG LCD monitor), you need to set the PC video resolution to native resolutionof this monitor which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz. You may have to use the old monitor (CRT) to set the resolution to 1280 x 1024@60Hz, then hook up the LCD monitor.

get the monitor that you used previously, and on the Windows desktop, go to display properties, in settings> advanced, under the monitor tab, change the refresh rate to 60, which is common on these flat panels.

Monitor "out of range"

Out of range happens when the video output of the computer is set to something the monitor cannot display. Like trying to talk to someone that does not understand your language. Just because the previous monitor was the same brand does not imply it will handle the same input. Either buy a different monitor or borrow one till you get one that works, then change the video output to something your new monitor recognizes. I have this problem at church - if I change the video output to a real high resolution the main big monitor will display it but the smaller one will say "out of range"

It normally means that you have connected the monitor to a computer whose resolution and frequency are beyond the range that this monitor are capable of.

To fix this, you can do one of two things: reconnect the old monitor and reduce the resolution to 800 by 600, which every monitor can handle and then reconnect the new monitor and change the resolution settings again. by default, Windows will restrict you to only settings that the monitor can handle. The second option would be to start your computer in safe mode (F8, just before you get the windows screen during boot). and change you monitor settings that way, rebooting afterwards.
