F 11 means

Serial Communication Error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

This is what to check.

  • Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
  • Check MCU
  • Check CCU
  • Check Motor
  • Check Wire Harness

    My Whirlpool GHW9100L was tripping out with a F11 error during the rinse/spin cycle as the unit was ramping up to spin speed with a small load in the wash bin. I reset the unit several times after...

    Hi.

    In your case the problem is more likely a worn connector or a defective board.

    F11 is communication error between CCU (main control unit) and MCU (motor control unit - additional control module connected to motor and to CCU, located in a sealed box inside the washer).

    This usually means that either CCU or MCU is defective. In some case the connectors or the wiring harness connecting the two modules is the problem.

    The tech sheet says:

    F11:Serial Communication Error
    Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
    Solution:
    * Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
    * Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
    * Check MCU
    * Check CCU
    * Check Motor
    * Check Wire Harness

    The wiring harness is tested using a multimeter to ensure that there is continuity between the MCU and CCU connectors. If a single wire is good it will read zero Ohms (closed) from contact to contact.
    Motor is tested reading Ohms, it must be read about 6 Ohms on three different pairs of contacts.
    Drive system in motor is checked observing if any of the parts are broken.
    MCU and CCU are tested reading volts during operation and testing at component level. The testing must be done by a tech. Check CCU to see if there is any sign of failure (eg burnt spots).

    Most of the time the problem is CCU. Trick to repair it include testing and eventually reheating the solder joint of the two on-board relays, cleaning connector contacts with circuit cleaner solution. This in case that the problem is CCU.

    Disconnect the unit from power for five minutes as first test. This will reset CCU.

    During cycle...F11 is showing on panel. What does

    F11 is:
    Serial Communication Error
    Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

    Check for:
    Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
    Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
    Check MCU
    Check CCU
    Check Motor
    Check Wire Harness

    If all the connections look fine , then its possible the CCU is reading wrong and will need to be changed

    I have a G1220SC model. F11 shows on the panel,

    F11 is a drain error.

    Water outlet restricted.

    ** Check for kink in the drain hose.

    ** Clean the filter combination. (p.41)

    ** Clean the non-return valve (check valve) (p. 53)

    ** Check/clean the drain
    Unplug the machine.
    Disconnectthe drain where it enters the S bend from the sink. You may find thenozzle into the S bend is blocked. Probe it with a screwdriver andclear the blockage.
    Plug in2_bing.gif the machine and re-try.

    THIS MANUAL
    may not be for your model - however it will give instructions on some of the steps above.

    If all checks out - the pump will need replacement.

    We keep getting a f11 and fdl code on our whirlpool duet front loading washer. Also we can't get the door to unlock, any suggestions?

    "F11" is a Serial Communications error code. The following link explains:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r666194-f11_error_whirpool_duet_kenmore_elite

    The "Fdl" error code indicates a problem with the door latch, which may be the reason why the door will not unlock.

    Now...before assuming you have any failed components, try unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). In many cases, these error codes are erroneous and can be reset in this manner. If the error code reappears following a CCU reset, then you have a legitimate problem.

    Read through the link provided for pointers on how to troubleshoot the F11 error code. The two errors in conjunction with each other, usually indicates a failed CCU. The CCU controls the latching mechanism on the door. If the CCU is not communicating with the door latch correctly, the latch doesn't operate and you get the additional error code (Fdl).

    You can trace the wires from the door latch to the CCU and unplug and reset them one at a time to make sure you have a good electrical connection as well. Do the same on the door latch end as well. To access, you simply need to remove the top panel of the washer. Remove the three screws in the back of the washer that holds the panel in place. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back and then lift off. The CCU is located directly behind the wash tub in the top center of the washer. NOTE: Make sure you UNPLUG the washer while doing this.

    If you need to retrieve your clothes and the door remains locked, there is a manual release you can use to open the door. The following link explains:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r622155-kenmore_elite_whirlpool_duet_door_jammed

    I know this may be a lot to read through. Try the CCU reset first. This is the easiest option and doesn't require you to remove anything. Hopefully, this will correct your problem(s).

    If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

    Code F11 and the washer does not continue

    "F11" is called a Serial Communications error. This commonly occurs when the Central Control Unit (CCU), which is the main computer, does not receive proper signals from the Motor Control Unit (MCU) for whatever reason. Before assuming you have a failed part, however, the manufacturer recommends unplugging the appliance for at least 30 miuntes to reset the CCU. Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches. If the problem returns, review the following link for more information:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r666194-f11_error_whirpool_duet_kenmore_elite

    In many cases this problem cures itself by resetting the computer. However, more commonly, when it appaears as a reoccuring problem, the CCU fails. Read through the link thoroughly, however, and follow the recommended advice just to be sure. Hopefully, this will not require any replacement parts. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you require further assistance.

    Bios not loading when hitting DEL

    Hi,

    Have you tried using a PS/2 keyboard? Or the other way around, a USB keyboard.

    Additionally you can try doing a reset on the motherboard by temporarily relocating the jumper on the CMOS reset pins (JP1 close to the Lithium battery) from 2-3 to 1-2 for a couple of seconds then back. Normally, once performed, the motherboard on the next boot will revert to default and auto request a CMOS setup. Alternately you can also temporarily remove the battery for about 15 minutes.

    If the USB and/or PS/2 KB nor the CMOS reset does not allow you to enter the BIOS setup, perhaps you need to return the board for replacement since this is indicative of MB failure.

    Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information.

    Good luck and kind regards.
