Question about Miele S251i Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum

1 Answer

Opening Miele S28i Vacuum cleaner

I need to open the motor compartment of my Miele S248I vacuum cleaner. It had a bag slip out of place and a lot of dirt got into the motor compartment. I found and removed the two screws inside the lid, but something else is holding the motor cover in place. What am I not finding to take this apart?

My hoover sucked up water. I dried it out but I think some may have got through the filter to the engine as nothing happens when I turn it one now. Fixable? Miele c2 compact allergy

If the bag was wet and the internal filter that sits behind the bag on that model was wet then water will have penetrated through to the motor.

All you can do is remove all possible components from the inside of the cleaner (the bag and filters) , get a powerful hair dryer, set it on cool and run air through from the inside of the cleaner into the electric motor compartment to try and dry up any residual moisture. Leave it open to air out and wait a few days before refitting the components and starting it.

If it will not start after drying it then you will have short circuited and damaged the motor and you will need to buy a new machine.

My Miele upright vacuum will not start. The red light will come on but not the motor. Why is that?

I believe you should have an amber light, if you are seeing a red light located above the bag compartment door, that indicates a fault with either the electronic module or the motor. Unless you have a voltage meter and are familiar with pulling plastic tabbed appliances apart, I suggest you email http://www.mieleusa.com/emailtomiele/emailus.asp?nav=&snav=&tnav=&oT=66 or call direct. My Miele S3141 canister began acting strange this morning. No suction...so I took off the hose and checked for blockage, (nothing). Now I can't get the hose back on the canister. It just slips ar

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Air filter:
If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up dirt and has no suction the air filter might be clogged. Remove the filter and either clean or replace it as needed.
Exhaust Filter If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the exhaust filter might be clogged. Remove and clean the filter, replace it if its torn or damaged.

Vacuum Hose If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum hose might be clogged. Remove the hose from the vacuum cleaner, stretch it out straight, shine a bright flashlight in one end and try to see light through it. If no light can be seen, use something to run through the hose and free up the obstruction.
Vacuum Bag If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum bag might be full. Clean or replace the bag as recommended by the manufacturer.

Dust Cup AssemblyIf the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the dust cup assembly might not be installed tightly, or it might be cracked or broken. The dust cup must seal tightly in order to produce the right amount of suction. If it is cracked or broken, replace it. Most glues and adhesives will not successfully seal the crack.
Blower Wheel If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and there is no suction, the blower wheel might be jammed or broken. Check the blower wheel to be certain it turns freely. If it doesn't, check to see if there is anything rubbing against it. If not, but it's hard to turn, the motor is most likely the problem.

My Riccar Upright leave lines of debris when I use it. Can you help?

Inspect the filter.Open the secondary filter on the base of the vacuum to ensure that dirt and debris have not collected on the filter, as this will limit motor performance. Remove the filter from the dust compartment and rinse with water to clean. Allow it to dry completely and return to the dust compartment.--------
Also check if dust bag is got over full and that is causing the problem.Open the dust compartment, take the old dust bag out of the bag holder and discard. Open the end of a new dust bag and attach to the dust bag holder. Close the dust compartment and tighten the dust cover. Also check properly that dust compartment is not got loose. Open cleaning attachment and check the hoses and nozzles on the frequently to ensure that they are free of dirt, obstruction or hair. Also inspect the brushes, if there is already dirt got stuck in the brushes and that is causing the problem.Clean the brushed.---------- This will help, to confirm where the problem is and to resolve the dirt /debris issue.----- Thanks.Helpmech.

place the vacuum cleaner in the vacuuming position with the wheels in normal rolling position. Slip your 4 fingers excluding your thumb into the hole located next to the nozzle(where this hose connects to the main body). Yank straight up and the bag compartment will open.

Dust compartment lid won't close

Hi Depending on the filter you have, you need to check that the filter grid has been securely locked in at the back. Check that it "snaps" down and locks into place. Then check the position of the bag. If the bag is sitting on the rising bag lock slider then the hinged slider needs to be pushed down into the bin. Usually the lid will close and lock down if you remove the hose. Try this to see if it works. Then check to see that the bag is opened out where the hose usually goes - if the mouth of the bag (and this also includes the new HyClean range with the seals already built in) looks out of angle then it has slipped upwards. This usually happens if the bag hasn't been folded out properly and can take milliseconds to put right.
Then put the hose back in and lock into place.
