Charging in cradle not working- get red light but never charges
I did not use my camera for a couple of months. The camera was never dropped or otherwise abused. I went to charge it overnight and the next day I took it out of the charger and tried to Power On but it won't work.
when it is in the cradle I can turn on the display and see the pictures on the camera so I know the outlet and camera are connected properly, but the camera won't hold a charge. I just bought this within the last year so it is very frustrating!

BAD BATTERY. if it is less than one year old they may be able to replace the battery for you. Contact tech support and give them your contact information. They will require you send in your battery and give you the address to send it to. Then they may be able to send you a replacement free of charge.

try connecting a 9volt battery with a couple of jumper wires to the correct terminals on the battery for about 30 seconds then put it on charge(positve to positive negative to negative) if the battery is to low the charger won't pick it up and start the charging cycle by connecting the 9volt to it t will put a small charge to it to start the charger
Here is how you fix the problem (without using a 9V battery method...).
The battery doesn't charge because it's been fully discharged.
What you do is you put the camera into the cradle. Now you see that the Red LED comes on solid for a while. It's charging for a few seconds. Then it starts blinking. When it does that - TAKE THE CAMERA OUT of the cradle.
Now put the camera back and repeat. Do this six or eight times. Each time what's happening is that the battery is getting a tiny bit of charge. After 8 times the LED will come on red and stay solid red.
Charging LED Red LED is on = Being charged Red LED is blinking = Charging error Green LED is on = Charging is complete
● If the charge indicator blinks as red, it indicates a battery charging error. - The battery is not properly inserted - The terminals of battery are dirty or damaged If the battery is inserted properly and the charge indicator continues to blink, contact the nearest Samsung Camera Service Center.
If the charging LED doesn't turn to green could mean a signal that the battery is bad or can't charge 100% anymore = too old, needs a new battery. Hope this helps.
i have not used my camera since June, when i went to charge the battery the other night the Red light just kept flashing even after leaving it for 8 hours, i can get pictures from it which are stored in it but the shutter will not open whilist in and out of the cradle.
I have just taken the lead and stretched it completely straight. Hey presto - the camera charger is now on red constantly. It has not been charging for over a week. Could be there is a kink inside the lead ??
The battery has lost it's memory and needs to be shocked back to life.. This solution worked for me:
"Hi,I just found a soultion on another website and it appears to have worked for me.Apparently the battery loses it memory when fully discharged,to fix this take a 9v battery and place the terminals + to + and - to - with the camera battery for 30 seconds or so then put the battery back in the camera and charge as normal.I just did this and it seems to be charging and the red light is solid.hope this helps."
