How to remove fan from dryer motor LGR6611LQ0

Replacing motor on LGR6611LQ0 and trying to figure out how to remove the fan from the shaft without breaking it. Motor # is #279827. Tried to turn shaft while holding the fan still. Motor will not fit through back panel. And no, having a 3rd tech come out to work on it isn't a choice. Thanks in advance.

How do I clean dryer squirrel cage?

To remove drum/fan drive motor:

• Remove rear panel & rear air duct. Remove belt from belttensioner. Remove top panel & drum if needed for better access.
• Disconnect terminal connector from motor, then remove two screws from motor mount & one screw holding fan to front shield. Lift rear of motor mount up and slide entire assembly toward rear of dryer.
• While holding motor shaft, not rotor fins, remove fan blade from motor shaft. Remove three screws, then remove fan housing from motor.
• Remove spring clamps by pushing ends of them down and away from motor. Lift motor up from motor mount.

Cage motor is the best blow out with compressed air. Also, by the way, clean the fan housing from the inside.

How to remove fan from back side of 80 series dryer so motor can be removed?

Hello John Bailey,

I believe if you look very closely... you will
see a splined (bronze) center bushing in the center
of the squirrel cage fan: Check for REVERSE threads.

A little penetrating oil and some FIRM pressure
should be sufficient to get the fan moving...

Force nothing ...

To get the ACTUAL cost of the FAN if you
BREAK it... you will need a COMPLETE model number...!!

Then go to... ( I don't recommend SEARS)
Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

Or shop on eBay for VERY competitive prices.

Hope this helps

Troubleshoot kenmore dryer

When I had the same problem I had to replace the dryer drive motor. The non replaceable thermo switch built into the motor is what kept stopping the dryer motor. On line videos were very helpful regarding changing the motor. I'd advise watching a few if you've never changed the motor before. The motor has a double ended shaft. One end drives the dryer. You probably saw that. Thing is inside the back of the dryer the other end drives the fan. Be very careful removing the back fan blade, it's plastic and not easy to remove without breaking it.LOOK FOR A VIDEO SHOWING THE FAN REMOVAL.

Can't remove dryer blower wheel

I would start by taking off the top and checking the belt to see if part of it tore and is hitting the inside of the cabinet. I have not found a real good way to get the blowers out without having to break them sometimes. the part of the blower that you have to hold is access through the front behind the motor. problem is when you turn the motor shaft, the wrench strips out on the blower, then you have to break them, but unless you need a new motor, it should not have to come off.

there is a half in square drive recess in blower wheel insert half in drive into it ..usually a 7/16 open end wrench will hold motor shaft but if not use adjutable wrench to hold motor shaft at belt end turn blower clockwise ..if still can get loose use service tech method chisel and hammer ..if motor has overheated the heat will almost weld blower wheel to motor shaft ..by the way some parts houses may sell the switch as a separate part

Remove blower blade from motor

A guy who has been repairing these for twenty+ years told me sometimes the blower fan is just too tight to remove. If so, you have to use a screwdriver or punch from the motor side and literally break the plastic fan apart. I thought that was going to be my problem, but..... With wrench tightly fastened to the nut at the back of the motor and resting against the post of the rubber wheel, I put a sturdy wrench on the shaft at the front of the motor and whacked it in a clockwise direction with a hammer. It snapped and came loose! Hooray. Try that before you demolish the blower fan.

Can't remove motor from dryer

you need to pretty much disassemble the whole machine. the top cover comes off, the front panel with door comes off. the drum lifts out to access the motor as it is bolted to the floor.

How do you get the front cover off the dryer?

Try removing the back cover to gain access to the dryer motor and other bits. Feel around the drum and around the lip of the drum at the door opening. There could be a wire or chain stuck between the drum and the frame.
