I just upgraded to a 640 GB harddrive..after re-installing xp pro and all my other softwares, it seems that there's no audio device...i was trying to a download the AC97 REALTEK AUDIO DEVICE, on my desktop....my desktop was custom built, so there isn't a specific manufacter....So, what do i need to know and how do i go about getting an audio device???

You need to identify the sound card (the make and model) that is installed on your computer. Then you need to go to that manufacturer's WEB site to the support/download page and download the XP driver for your model sound card.
If can also try www.driverguide.com to search and download drivers.

I have to assume the sound is derived from the mother board. We'll need the Manufacturer of the motherboard (not the chips) i.e. Intel, Assus etc. and the model # which should be printed very close to the manufacturers name.
