If you upgrade to a genuine verson of XP from a pirated one, it will be okay. The harddrive [shouldn't] reject the software.

My problem is to remove the genuine software from my computer because no backrounds are showing in my desktop

The "Windows Genuine Advantage" software on your computer has discovered that you are using a "counterfeit" version of Windows XP.

So, if you bought the computer from a computer-store, and they installed Windows, you can report them to Microsoft: call 1-800-R-U-LEGIT to report them as "software pirates".

Or, see: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/
for information on how to convert your copy into a "genuine" copy of Microsoft Windows.

Or, buy a retail copy of "Windows 7 Upgrade", and upgrade your Operating System from XP to the latest version.

This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation

according to the statements which you have specified the computer says that the operating system you are using is not an original software and may be a pirated version.i can suggest you two things. if you have bought the operating system xp as an original one from a dealer contact the support of microsoft and sort your problem immediately. but if you have installed the operating system from a pirated version, enter a new volume license key and switch off windows update. you will be under risk if you are updating a pirated version of xp.thanks for using fixya!.please dont forget to rate my solution.

Delited files in ad or remove program and my modem keeps saying error so wont to delite xp and put it back on but my xp disk is older than the one on the computer please help

See this is not the disk from the previous installation was done. It was done either from pirated CD (if corrunt one is original) or The current one is pirated.

if corrent CD is original, simply uninstall the SW then reinstall from current CD, otherwise get the latest version of the SW ( offcourse licensed) and install the new one after uninstalling olderone, or update in order to keep your setting same.

A pirated windows cannot be made genuine in any way. There are patches that just disable the genuine windows check, but the windows still wont be genuine, and you wont be able to download certain updates from Microsoft.

Regarding performance there is no difference between a genuine windows and non genuine one. However non genuine windows does not download all updates, this can cause troubles when a software need the updates.

Always better using genuine Windows.

Problem using media player

If you are using a pirated version of windows and have installed any kind of update from the microsoft website you are required to install the Microsoft Genuine Advantage program. This will cause several programs to not work.

If you are not using a pirated version of windows your cd key has been obtained by someone else and has been registed under their details. I would suggesting calling the Microsoft Helpline and report your issue to them.
