CanoScan Scanner can not complete a scan

Scanner: Cannon CanoScan LiDE 70

I recently reorganized my office that required disconnecting then reconnecting all my equipment. After reconnecting, the scanner worked find for awhile. Then unit was not able to complete any scans. Below are the messages I get when attempting to scan:

1) Scanning... window
Processing calibration data from a scanner ( about 1 to 2 minutes is required ). Do not open the document cover.

2) ScanGear window
Cannot communicate with scanner.
Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status.
Scanner driver will be closed. Code: 2,155,0

3) CanoScan Toolbox window
TWAIN data transfer error

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is going to sound very odd but I got exactly the same issue on the same hardware when scanning nothing (just the white background of the top cover).

I tried three different computers, two XP and one windows 7 with the same result.

However after HOURS of agony I happened to open the cover (when the instructions said DO NOT OPEN THE COVER).
Then the calibration continued and did not crash.

After that the scanner works perfectly on that computer.

I retried anothe of my computers that did not work, it still did not work. Then I tried to scan a A4 bill (white paper + black text).
Then calibration succeded there to and scanner seems to work there too.

Could it be that calibration fails if it is done on a completely white sheet. Maybe some division by zero or something stupid in the driver if it cant find any black pixels?

Dunno, sounds strange I agree, but fact is that scanning a white paper with black text solved my issue on two computers with two different os (Win7 and WinXP).

Double-check all connections and try another port if possible. There may also be damage to cables or pins. Do you have another cable to try? Do other devices work in the same port?

Where is the power button on a canoscan lide 70 scanner?

There is no power button on mine. It gets its power from the high speed usb so it is always ready. Every time I boot up my mac I hear the scanner go thru a warm up scan. I have downloaded the twain plugin for photoshop and access it that way. The lamp will go on when you preview scan something.

Canoscan LiDE 70 has started to make a grinding sound.

My suggestion is replace the motor but you might be into a few bucks out of pocket and a search for new motor issue. Many peopel at tihs point just buy a new scanner (just telling you the truth)

Scanners these days are a dime a dozen and it would probably cost lest just to replace the scanner.

Is there a calibration option for Canon Canoscan Lide 70?

Im not sure if this specific scanner has one But what it would do is calibrate the lights in the scanner to pick up colors better and it would calibrate the position of the scanning bar.

Out of Focus Scans

You have some limited color adjustment settings in ScanGear that you can play around with. I would recommend recalibrating the scanner. This is done in ScanGear Advanced mode under Image Settings.
