Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

Contrast/menu/screen resolution box wont stop flashing on screen.

The "menu," accessed on bottom of emachine computer monitor will not stop flashing on screen, even though it is not manually turned on. The "exit," button will not always turn it off. Sometimes it will remain on for seconds/minutes at a time, sometimes it will repeatedly flash on and off the screen. I do not believe the buttons to turn on are stuck, as they dont appear that way and sometimes I can work for half an hour on my computer without seeing it flash. This has been an ongoing problem with my computer for the past two weeks or so. Anyone that can offer any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My E19T6W 19" LCD monitor has a menu that keeps popping up on the bottom right corner of
my screen. Has been doing this continually since I got it. Changes from the eMachine monitor tour to resolution and contrast menus. I keep turning it off and within seconds it'll be right back. For the most part I just ignore it, but recently it has been driving me insane during movies.

My E19T6W 19" LCD monitor

Sorry, I have no solution, just thought you might like to know that I am having the exact same problem.
The only thing I can add is that it appeared after a night that my computer was set to do a weekly upload of Microsoft, anti-virus and anti-spyware updates. Also, that night we had some electrical storms. The menu pops up in the bottom right corner at very erratic intervals and sometimes just flashes, while other times stays on for minutes. It is driving me crazy!
I have tried updating the monitor driver and the video card using the "Device Manager" icon found in the "Control Panel". No luck. I have also ran anti-virus and anti-spyware scans and also used AVG to scan and fix registry errors. No luck.
I am open to suggestions.
Thanks

I have a 19inch LCD monitor and the main menu resolution screen keeps blinking and wont go off. Have tried to disable it, different settings but it still does it. Can you help please

Try setting your computer itself to a lower resolution first say

1024 x 768

It may be that you are pushing the resolution to high for the monitor to handle

On start, monitor contrast option automatically gets activated

if nothing works and you cannot access your monitor settings via the menu button on the monitor then you have no way of correcting it. as far as i am aware the only thing you can change with the monitor from within your operating system are its resolution, refresh rate. so i think you need a knew monitor.

Menu/screen resolution/contrast box keeps popping up on screen.

By what your describing, the board in the monitor that allows you to make changes to the display is going bad (sounds like the settings button). If it were a notebook you might be able to get a board replacement (just an example I know notbooks dont have this feature in the lid). Since it seems that your display is for a desktop, I dont think it would be easy or inexpensive to get a replacement board. You will probably have to get a new monitor. If you want to fix it yourself, pull the monitor apart and get the board out. Try an electronics cleaner and put it back together. If it works, great. If it doesnt, take the board back out and take the board to an electronics (tv) repair shop and see if they can solder in a new button. If that doesnt work your back to buying a new monitor. Hope this helps...

I'm had the exact same problem. Try to go to DISPALY PROPERTIES in XP and change the screen resolution to 1024X1280, the screen will reset itself and the square box will disappear. try to do it more then one time if it's doesnt help at first time. after awhile u can try and bring it back to the original resolution.

Good Luck

Color on monitor

First, have you degaussed the unit to stop any magnetic interference?

Do you use software to change monitor settings or do you use the on screen display menu on the monitor?

Most lcd's have a button for menu on the lcd. This can be used to adjust color, contrast, brightness, degauss, as well as screen position and size.
