If it gets too hot it will shut down for about an hour...it does that to protect the motor. A lot of tools and work appliances seem to have that feature nowadays.

Is my model nno. US183900 S/N 080600079068 still under warranty? I have a broken hinge post in the bottom cover of the dirt canister. Thank you.

The Hoover Fusion Plus Cyclonic Upright Vacuum has a 1 year manufacturers warranty from date of purchase. You need to check your reciept to see if it's under a year old. Then go to the Hoover.com web site to find the closest Hoover warranty service center to where you live. Bring the proof of purchase and the vacuum to them.

One item to check is this: This unit has a temperature overheat device.
Unplug the unit for 20 minutes, then plug in and turn on the switch. If there was a blockage in the hose/cup/filters, this could cause the overheating.

If this does not resolve the problem, it will need disassembled and checked with a continuity meter to determine the component that failed (motor, switch, cord, or TCO)

Our Hoover U5780-900 stopped working while using the attachment. We let it cool down for about 5 minutes and it fired back up. It appears to shut down when it overheats.
